The Romanian and Serbian Canis lupus rest in an uneasy peace. One of their own, Sally Miklos, the young and powerful gypsy healer, aids Perizada in her quest to defeat Volcan, a long forgotten nightmare returned to our world. These two packs watch as their brothers across the world, wolves from Spain, Ireland, and America, join their own forces in the battle against the evil dark fae. At the same time, the packs hope against hope that their presence might reveal a mate bond between a pack member and one of the five recently discovered gypsy healers.
While Jacque and Jen miss Sally, their longtime best friend, they have bided their time dealing with their own domestic issues. Jacque and Fane are anticipating the birth of their first child and Jen and Decebel face the challenges of caring for an infant. Both girls are eagerly awaiting Sally’s return, and have Perizada’s word that she will be back in time for the birth of Jacque’s baby.
Vasile and Alina, the Alpha pair of the Romanian pack, are enjoying this time of peace. But Vasile did not become the most powerful Alpha in centuries by being a fool. He has lived long enough to know that there is always another battle on the horizon. As long as evil exists in this world, his race must step forward and stand in the gap, shielding those who cannot protect themselves. But the battle he is anticipating is bigger than he could have ever imagined.
As Perizada has recently discovered, creatures of the night that have for so long remained hidden from the human realm, have slithered from their underground lairs and begun preying on the young and innocent. The high fae has declared war, and she expects Vasile and his wolves to be the ones to carry out the attack. The Alpha is more than happy to oblige. But with his first grandchild on the way, and the gift of five vulnerable healers coming under the wolves’ protection, he understands that he must be very careful not to place any of them in harm’s way.
Such is the job of the Alpha, protector, and provider. He and those he leads must stand as sentinels and warriors to safeguard those they love, and the humans who know nothing of the supernatural world. It will be their job to destroy the creatures that threaten to expose them all. And if they fail, the world as they know it, both human and supernatural, will never be the same.

Although this novel doesn't have the classic romance ending, it is worth reading. The finish is set up for book 10 of the Grey Wolves series. Its action & adventure intermingle w/the romance of the 3 Americans & their Romanian mates. The trouble seems to be just beginning in this one.

Quinn Loftis created another spectacular book in the Grey Wolves Series, Den of Sorrows. The Romanian and Serbian wolves are helping the high Fae in a fight against the vampires, while trying to keep their existence a secret. This contemporary PNR is suitable for young adults to adult audiences. I like the synopsis at the beginning of the book. I read a lot so sometimes it takes me a while to remember what happed in the last book or in this case I realized I skipped a couple of books in the series. I am going to want to backtrack and read those. I have enjoyed watching Jacque, Jen, and Sally grow-up since the first book. I have to laugh, because every time Jen’s name comes up since book three, Just One Drop, I still hear Katy Perry’s E.T. in my mind. That girl crakes me up. Heck all three of them do. I also appreciate their conversations with their mates; they make for some good entertainment. Quinn Loftis does a phenomenal job in her character development. I can typically tell who is speaking before their name is even mentioned. The characters have grown tremendously, and you feel like you know them. The plot is intense and thrilling. The vampires are evil adversaries who make the story spellbinding. It is horrifying how they are preying on children. I love the introduction of Bethany. I have a feeling she is going to fit in perfectly with the girls. There were many unexpected twists. Den of Sorrows was convincing and well described. I appreciate how each chapter begins with a quote from one of the characters (especially Jen’s). The story had my emotions all over the board. The ending had me on the edge of my seat and anxiously awaiting the next book. Complimentary copy provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

I feel like it started out so good and then we repeat a story. Dec and Jen, how can one of the strongest bond be broken, I understand it makes for a good story, but it takes away from the point of true mates. And every new character that comes into the books has the girls personality. Even ppl who are centuries old sound like 18 yr old little girls. I loved they way they all interact with each other in books 1-7, everyone so different but connected. But now it's like they are all the same ppl and same similarities of other books in this one. It is not a bad story just to much the same as 1-7. I wil rate this as good and will see how the 2nd part comes out.

The only complaint I have is that it ended too soon. This is by far my favorite book series. Love how she can always surprise me and the books never become predictable, I can't wait to see what happens next.
