Overview

“I highly recommend this real-life page turner!” —Mara Botonis, Best-Selling Author, When Caring Takes Courage

DEPLOYING HIGH conveys the life, leadership and lessons learned by Chief Gene Saunders in his mission to save lives and bring loved ones home through Project Lifesaver International. Using the same SWAT team commander’s strategies and tactics he developed for local law enforcement, Saunders worked through adversity and successfully developed the right solution of technology and feet on the ground. The resulting use of personal locators, drones, tracking devices and expert field staff has allowed Project Lifesaver International to become the leading force in special-focus expedited search and rescue. Over 3,500 cognitively impaired people prone to wandering have been saved. This is their life-saving story.

About the Author

Nora Firestone is a writing and communications professional whose primary expertise includes journalism, copy/content and script writing, marketing, website design and public- and media-relations. Thousands of her published articles include those she wrote as a reporter for The Virginian-Pilot and Inside Business newspapers and other publications between 2006 and '16. She is also the host of two weekly talk-radio shows broadcast throughout eastern Virginia, northeastern North Carolina and southern Maryland from WKQA in Norfolk, Virginia. A native of Long Island, New York, Firestone moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia, in 1993. She's Mom to her beloved Aaron, Evan and Eve Firestone. She prefers downhill skiing to selfie-taking, dark chocolate to caviar, and integrity to showmanship. Her ideal day would feature danceable live music, great people and beautifully groomed Colorado ski trails to 13,000 feet. In death she'll consider staying on as somebody else's muse, or perhaps as a ghost writer. She may be harder to reach, but feel free to try.
