Makayla Rose has moved to Briney Creek from New York. She's decided after working as a forensic photographer for the NYPD and loving a man who ended up causing her to be suspected of murder, she needed a drastic change.

Makayla opens her little photography studio right on Main Street and is happily shooting scenes of festivals, family annual photos, and some business promotional arrangements. She's even getting her own glamor shot together so she can create an online profile for a dating site. Now Makayla has to figure out who in her idyllic new town is a murderer and if her photos, found dumped all over the body, hold the clue.

178 pages. I had a really difficult time deciding how to rate this book. I finaly decided to rate it on enjoyment factor alone, since I am the first reviewer. I really enjoyed this book, despite ir flaws. Several of which were very annoying. I will get to those in a moment. This is a cozy, clean not very graphic mystery. There are a lot of characters. There is sex, adultry, murder, several really mean characters, no real violence and small town charm. The murder and violence are undetailed and actually could use a bit of pick me up. This is a free, stand alone book, part one of a series. There are two other book, so far and each cost $2.99 plus tax. This book is first person, which I don't really care for but can tolerate. The author makes a LOT of asides to the reader, which I hated. Characters should not talk to the readers. It ruins the story for me. The grammer and sentence structure are terrible. The author uses a more advanced vocabulary then most writters. This was nice, except the words were used incorrectly. They did not mean what Claire thought they did. All this made the flow very rough and a bit confusing. The conclusion was above average. I was quite surprized, which is difficult to do. I liked the plot very much. Because of all sexual situations, thoughts and talk, though very tame, I cosider this a book for 18 year olds and up. A few men might like this book, but basically it is chick lit. Most of my grippes are technicalities, but these things are as important to the book as a good plot, smooth flow and conclusion are. I will purchase book two at some point. If it is as poorly constructed, I will not purchase others by this author. AD

I loved it, ready to read the next books. I loved the characters, the small town gossip and especially the love relationship between Malayala and the sheriff. Great read!

At times a little slow, but I liked the humor and the small town gossip, along w/ a few secrets. Some characters I thought were needless, as for being involved in the actual police work, well that's fiction. I liked the fact that the sex wasn't explicit. Overall a 3.5 Book is 180ish pgs.

It was almost like two books in one. One part a beginning love story of the photographer and the sheriff and the other the murder and the mystery to find the killer. I guess putting them together you get a good read.

This artless story was tedious to wade through. Needs a very serious rewrite, just to start. Kitt :(

I really expected more photography tips or talk. Otherwise I pretty much agree with the previous post. I'll probably read the next one just to see how it goes with the lawman. Hope it goes on sale.....
