I was struck by the humor and the wonderful illustrations in this book. I use it in the classroom to teach about the desert and the children are fascinated with the animals and insects. It's so refreshing to find such mature and beautiful paintings in a childrens book. It seems 98 percent of them have oversimplified cartoony drawings. My children are inspired by the colorful art. I highly recommend this book.
