Ted has restarted her life back home in Cambio Springs as the town doctor. She has learned to move on the best she can since her and Alex went their separate ways. Only now he is back. And he says for good. But Alex doesn't believe him. She knows from experience he never sticks around. Only time will tell if he truly means it. This series is one of my all-time favorites. Of course all of Hunter's books are some of my all-time favorites. But this one is all about the shifters. And I must say...Hunter does it right. I've read some shifter books that didn't click with me. But everything about this series clicked right into place. I felt at home surrounded by her characters and her amazing writing. I don’t think I will ever get enough of her imagination. I absolutely adored the work up to the romance. It was smoldering. It was fresh. It was oh so hot! Alex is doing everything he can to prove to Ted that he loves her and wants to be in her life forever. Only Ted isn’t so gullible these days. She has been hurt by him before and is going to make him prove himself over and over again. Another awesome factor is we see all our old favorites in this one. Caleb and Jena are not going to sit idly by on the sidelines. Oh no! They play huge roles in this book. Then we get Allie a whole bunch too. And it is perfect because her story is going to be next. So pay attention. You will want to know what all is happening in this dusty little town. DESERT BOUND immediately captures the reader and pulls them in...refusing to let them go. At least it was that way for me. I actually took my time with this one for fear of it ending. Because when it ends, it ends. You have to wait a while for the next on. And patience is not one of my better qualities. I do recommend you read FIVE MORNINGS before you dive into this one though. It gives you a bit of a back story for Alex and Ted. And just because it is so flippin fabulous! 5 Stars!

I greatly enjoyed this book! I found it hard to put down. The plot is so interesting. In addition to a great romance rekindled, we get a murder mystery, a missing husband, a kidnapping, and shifters galore. The characters are all easily likable and have a depth to them that makes you feel like you've grown up in the town with them. Teodora (a.k.a. Ted, Tea) is trying to avoid getting back together with her ex, Alex. Their chemistry is instant and steamy. What I enjoyed the most about the characters was how their shifter side was reflected in their personality. I think the author did a great job infusing the two sides of their personalities. I hate spoilers, so I don't want to give anything else away. This is a must read for any paranormal romance lover.

Can two strong-willed shifters re-kindle their love or will their tempers turn those old feelings into the charred remains of a once raging inferno? This is a time when all shifters must stand together, murder is in their midst, again and the killer is still on the loose. Alex is an alpha wolf, Theodora is an alpha mountain lion, and like a dog and cat, their love is as hot and steamy as their arguments. Two strong individuals, one love that seems doomed as their families are as opposed to it as the Hatfields and McCoys. Is it time for Alex to take over his pack and fight for peace and the very existence of his community? How can two leaders ever find their own space when the outside world has become a living nightmare where no one feels safe? Is there more to the murder than meets the eye or is it one clan striking out at another? Elizabeth Hunter’s Desert Bound is a strong addition to the Paranormal Romantic Mystery genre. Her characters are very well drawn and full of depth. The romantic elements are steamy and volatile as Theodora fights her feelings for Alex and he wears his heart on his sleeve. Each side plot just adds to the growing tension as they must learn to deal with the outside world, as well as their own community when tempers flare and fear and distrust becomes so thick one can almost cut the air. Lots of story, great plot, strong writing, sounds like a winner to me!

Desert Bound (Cambio Springs 2)  Elizabeth Hunter Review from jeannie zelos book reviews Genre: Paranormal/fantasy romance. I love Elizabeth's Elemental Mysteries, and the Elemental World spin offs, and have just finished re reading the series right through. She’s one of my all time favourite authors so when I got the chance to review this novel I jumped at it. Curiously I’d missed there was a new series out, so Cambio Springs is new to me, but that didn’t stop me from enjoying this book, though I did at times have trouble recalling who was married to/family of whom. Its another great paranormal read, shape-shifters instead of vampires, and is in Elizabeth’s easy to read writing style. Its a much lighter feel to it than the Elemental books though. The plots and characters are realistic, but not as dense and complex as the other series. That's fine though – sometimes I want a book to get deeply involved and lost for a few hours, and others I just want a good story that’s not too heavy that I can relax and enjoy.  I loved the way Alex and Ted spark together. They’re both strong characters and there’s lots of head to head arguments before they can finally get together – they agree the sex has always been good, its just the rest they need to work on!! When they do get together its explosive, and that’s one difference in this series, its much more sexual than the Elemental one. There sex is seductive, sensual but kept subtle – here its very open. Lots of shifter series are like that, but though some have people swapping partners Ted and Alex stay together and I like that best. I understood why Ted was so hurt by Alex’ past actions – it did feel pretty callous, but then we see Alex insight and motives and I understood him too – made me a fence sitter rooting for them both. Their families aren’t though – Cat and Wolves, each want them to find partners in their own clan. They are  two strong people luckily, and able to stand up to them. When a shifter is found murdered Alex and Ted need to work together to protect their community, and keep it’s secrets hidden from prying eyes. There are humans among them that know the secret, relatives and partners of shifters mostly, and they are happy to help it stay hidden. Caleb is the local sheriff ( I think that’s the term – the lead police guy anyway) and as a human he wants to see the culprit face human justice, but if its a shifter that’s not going to be possible, and it brings some strained relations between him and Alex and Ted. He doesn’t want Alex involved, agrees Ted can have limited involvement as she’s the local doc, but of course those two aren’t going to be held back from what they see as their duty. Its a great story, fabulous setting, a range of shifters from birds to wolves and cats to snakes...and each have their own part to play. I really enjoyed this as a lighter read, and one to keep, and at some point I’ll catch up on the early stories.  Stars: Four and a half.  – maybe if I'd read the earlier ones I'd have gone five.  ARC supplied by publishers
