After discovering a tiny statue in the stump of a tree, college senior Natty has a feeling that she's being followed. When she shows the pictures of the statue to her parents, she notices someone in the background of the photos and becomes frightened. Soon after, her parent's home is broken into and Natty immediately knows that the person from the picture is searching for the statue. Natty begins dreaming at night of an Indian man who wants her to do something...but what that is is always elusive. When the mysterious person from the photo shows up at her apartment, she and Ethan, an Indian who has swept her off her feet, flee town. This little statue "guides" Natty and Ethan through Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and back home to Colorado to face the troubles that have been following them throughout their journey, and to solve the mystery. Donna Hawk Regehr is a high school and middle school teacher, in Kansas, where she teaches photography, yearbook and a geography class called Globetrotters. Donna is working on her second book.
