4.5 Star Review of Desire After Dark (The McCarthy’s of Gansett Island #15) by Marie Force This is book 15 in the hugely successful The McCarthy’s of Gansett Island series and is the story of Tobias “Slim” Jackson and Erin Barton. Slim has a great life. During the summer months he is a pilot on Gansett Island and in the winter he works in Florida/ Erin is the new lighthouse keeper on Gansett Island and since the death of her twin brother has avoided life. When she meets Slim whose first name is the same as her beloved dead brother, Erin sees it as a sign that perhaps she should get back into the land of the living and starts spending time with Slim . They are attracted to each other and have an easy camaraderie which I found a lot of fun to read about. When Slim returns to Gansett Island for the holidays his hope is to pick up where he left off with Erin. But will Erin be able to brave the emotions that Slim evokes and start living again? That is the question. It is always great to read a new story about Gansett Island, it’s like coming home to your family as you get to catch up with what is going on in their lives. This book as with others in the series was an extremely well written, sweet, sexy and romantic book. A fantastic addition to the series.

Marie done a fantastic job with this book. Showing Erin OCD side and the parts she keeps hidden from everyone. I am so glad She let Slim in and she feels like Toby would too. All the wedding a my. Marie knows how to keep you up to date with the family. Love that Mac is still causing trouble but it bad it has all the men in trouble to. And those baby they will keep mom and dad on their toes. Way to go Marie Force. Can not wait for the next book.

Desire After Dark is the 15th book in Gansett Island series but the second book that I read from this series. It was a stand-alone but reading the other book from the previous book would have helped in some part. I got confused sometimes especially if they mention the other character names and they are a large community. Slim Jackson is a pilot of Gansett and he met Erin in the party that the island held last time in the previous book. He is a great guy with good sense of humor and incredibly caring and compassionate with Erin. His sensitivity with Erin's mood is very touching and he seems to be perfect for her. There are lots of his good quality which I don't want to list (it will be a spoiler). Erin Barton has a very sad past and the pain from losing her twin brother is too much for her to bear. She grieved a lot and barely lived. The author explained the intensity of her pain well and I can feel her pain too. She deserved some happiness and when she met Slim, she started to regain her old cheerfulness and love of life. I was expecting the story to be completely about Erin and Slim without the others’ story included. As the story goes, the readers are expected to be ready about the change in point of view. So like in the early chapters, it would be Erin and Slim’s story but in the next chapter it might be the other characters. I was a little bit thrown off, but I get the story and I like where it was going. When I started this book, I was lost since I do not know how Erin met Slim and it seems it was written in the previous book in this series. I want to know the detail about it but there are only some bits about in the next chapters. The book is a bit boring to my taste but there are some values that I can pick up from there which make this book worthwhile. I love all of the life lesson and the tight-knit family. Overall, I enjoy reading it. Nice read! Rating: 3.5 stars

5 Star Review This is book 15 in the McCarthy's of Gansett Island series and it can be read as a standalone but I feel you would get so much more from it if you have read the previous books. Erin is just going through the motions of life after losing her twin brother on 9/11 and she has come to Gansett Island to take over looking after the lighthouse and try and move on with a new life the last thing she expected was to meet a man and never a man who shared her brothers first name. Tobias or Slim to his friends is the pilot that spends his Summers on Gansett Island and his Winters in Florida some might say a perfect life but then he met Erin and Florida was not so attractive any more. Slim is back for Christmas to see where life is heading with Erin and will she take the giant step to move forward with love . The McCarthy's and all their friends are an amazing bunch of people who have you laughing and crying and what can you say about the one liners those cute little ones get. As always we got an insight into new books that will be coming and I can't wait for the next instalment in one of my favourite series. Marie Force has a way with words that draw you in and make you feel like you not only know this family you know Gansett Island as well Another great read

I was lucky enough to get an advanced copy of this book and definitely could not wait for this story!!! To say that I could not put this book down would be an understatement...I was hooked (as I usually am with any Marie Force book). It was wonderful to catch up with all my Gansett Island friend but Slim & Erin's story was one of the best I have read. It's a wonderful story and moving in so many ways. Please read this book and all that came before it, you will not be disappointed!!!! A definite 5 star read!!!

I will be completely honest, this book felt as if it was going to be a repetition of Meant for Love, Jenny's story. But I could not have been more wrong. Per usual, and I won't even pretend to be surprised just extremely delighted, Marie Force as offered up her amazing ability to create a fresh voice even when she's 15 books into this series. Her characters never disappoint, the stories always remain incredibly engaging and applause-worthy. Desire After Dark offered that and so much more. I can't event begin to fathom how this book included everything it did. A story of two people: one who has had severe debilitating loss in her life, and the other who came along at the right time and just the right amount of sexy, understanding and is the all around perfect-for-her hero. Slim and Erin have an instant connection that morphs into something neither of them were expecting. They had committed themselves to single-hood, for different reasons, but when that fated night they met something changed. In the best of ways, in the forever kind of ways. In this book you feel every ounce of Erin's heartbreak over the loss of her twin brother. But what soothes that ache is the utter perfection that is Slim, and the love and comfort he offers her which actually pushes her to face the fears she's been hiding from. What will also calm your aching reader heart when you read this book is Erin's relationship with Jenny. I don't think there's been such a connection between friends and family in this series as their is between these two. They have a connection that runs deeper than blood and it was really heart-warming to see them interact and cement their bond as family even though Toby is gone, and has been for 15 years. In the end this book was simply amazing. I couldn't have loved it more. The hilarious antics of the Gansett crew are there in full force, but far from overshadow the importance and seriousness of Erin and Slim's time together. There are so many visits back to my other favorite couples and I devoured each glimpse into their lives post-HEA. This is truly the series that I wish would never end. I can never get enough of it, even 15 books later and I've got grabby hands for whatever is next. Happy Reading! ARC provided by the author in exchange for an honest review

As always Marie's, books make you laugh and cry. To bad it is totally impossible for Marie to put a book every week. That would be heaven.

I love the Gansett Island series but I shudder to think about the small blurb the "main" characters in book, I don't know, thirty will command. I felt like the story of Slim and Erin was held hostage by a takeover of the series' long list of prior protagonists. By all means, write a catch-up novella for the catch-up stories but give us, the readers, more time with the characters of the moment!

Sorry but this book was a big disappointment. If an author can't grab you in two chapters they lose the reader. I stayed with it certain a climax would come but there was no climax. Too many characters and a story that didn't go anywhere. The sex in every chapter didn't make it interesting and no comparison to Fifty Shades of Gray.

I've faithfully read every book in this series, and I have to say I think this one was my favorite one yet. I seriously claim Slim as my newest book boyfriend; and I absolutely love the strong, sassy women of Gansett Island.

Honestly i am still here like why did the book end already. This book was sweet, breathtaking, awesome, funny, crazy, and humorous. I must say i read it late only because i started a new job and wanted to set a good example. I am currently seething and a bit upset because i want more. This entire book i was entertained. I love love love the McCarthys and the entire Gansett gang. Erin and slim are a match made in heaven. Thank you Marie Force

Desire After Dark is the 15th book in Marie Force's Gansett Island series. I am new to this series, and I will admit I was a little apprehensive at first about jumping in to a book that is part of such a long series. However, Desire After Dark is a beautiful love story that reads well as a stand-alone. That being said, I think it is definitely enjoyed best by those who have read the entire series and already know all of the characters. I am a lover of series. I hate letting characters go at the end of a book. Just from reading this one book alone, I can tell that Marie Force does a fabulous job of continuing a series by allowing new characters to tell their stories without letting go of the characters that readers have grown to love throughout the series. WOW! I can only describe Marie Force as a "Master Storyteller"... Her ability to weave storylines and drag you into the story is nothing short of miraculous... I need to have a period of time available when I read her offerings because once I start I cannot stop... Wonderful Characters and the flow of the story is like a stream that grows into a river for me... If you are not a Gansett Island Series reader start at Book 1 because the characters that appear in the early volumes continue to "live" and "grow" in subsequent books... There are not enough start to properly rate this authors offerings... One of my top three authors all time...
