In high school, senior Dante DeMatteo beat the crap out of junior Kara Crawford's cheating boyfriend for bruising her. Already having a monster crush on her hero that went stratospheric with his intervention, she regrets she never got to thank him as he was taken to the office by two teachers and then left for college. Several years later at Lucie's housewarming party, Dante and Kara see each other across the crowded room. With one glance, each feels the heat, but has doubts as he needs to be her dominant and she wants to be his sub. As they start a spanking relationship, he joins the law firm where she works. When each falls in love, they fail to come together as Dante and Kara fear going over the Pleasure's Edge of loving a relationship filled with desire. The key to this superb erotic romance is the fear factor as the protagonists are frightened to death with how deeply they love one another. This relationship anxiety leads to Dante and Kara confused as to what they want. Eva Berlin provides a heated but poignant BDSM romance. Harriet Klausner

The book prior to this, about Alec and Dylan, was I think much better than Dante and Kara. The plot was a bit weak as was the dialogue between the two. Emotional strongholds are the theme, and the "power play" that occurs is the instrument used for freedom to accept love and to be loved.

4.5 Stars - Kara Crawford is a confident, successful attorney who as a child dreamed of going to college to obtain an art degree. Her mother, owner of one of the top architectural firms in Seattle, had never had time for more than one child. Her father had his own law practice. They were absorbed in their work, focused to the exclusion of anything else. Six months ago, Kara’s relationship had ended badly after she finally admitted her darkest desires to her boyfriend—something outside the ordinary realm of sex. He had judged her harshly, and just like that, it was over. Now, at her best friend’s housewarming party, she runs into someone unexpected. Someone she hasn’t seen in more than twelve years, but she’d know him anywhere. The last week of her junior year in high school he’d knocked her louse of a boyfriend down for getting rough with her. Then he’d been suspended. Soon after that he’d left for college and she hadn’t seen him since. Sexual dominant Dante De Matteo craves the power exchange. He doesn’t want a relationship, just the temporary responsibility that comes with BDSM play. And when the evening or weekend is over, everyone can pack up and go home. Friendly, but casual. No strings—nothing more. Until he runs into the girl he’d dreamed about through the last two years of high school, and is surprised to find that her darkest fantasies align so perfectly with his. After an amazing weekend of insatiable sex, Kara walks into the conference room at work and is introduced to the law firm’s newest junior partner—Dante. Now, they find themselves confronted daily by their intense chemistry, and as desire draws them closer together, deep-rooted fears threaten to pull them apart… Desire’s Edge is a well-written, realistic, character driven erotic romance. Once again, Ms. Bradley/Berlin provides the reader with complex characters that are easy to relate to. Kara is a smart, successful, independent woman who grew up in a difficult environment. Her parents were harsh. Judgmental. As a Dominant, Dante is honest with himself about what his desires are and embraces Kara for hers. My only complaint is the author’s constant use of the endearment “beautiful girl,” which after a while I no longer found endearing, just irritating—and for some reason slightly condescending. Regardless, Desire’s Edge is a passionate, sexy and emotional read of desire, fear, self-discovery, and love with a satisfying HEA. It contains light BDSM and edge play—pain play.

The book was just not for me. I feel like it just dragged on. The characters I found to be frusterating. The dialog was awful. I do not recommand it at all.

the book was awesome...very sexual...kara is a strong independent attorney who had always tried to please her parents with no luck and an ex who judged her harshly...and decided to stay away from men for a while but after running into someone from highschool that she had a crush on comes into her life that is where dante tells her he has had a crush on her as well and both decide to give into their desires for that one weekend...but after finding out dante is the new attorney at her law firm she decides to walk away but not until dante talks her into staying in this affair...after some time they both have had some growing feelings but neither is ready to take that step...but in the mean time their sexual experiances are so heated all i can say is wow...usually i read reviews before i buy a book but this time i just gave it a shot without no reviews and i am glad i did...

3.5 Stars I love it when it rains. The sound of the rain drops hitting the roof and windows does something to me on the inside every time. I could stare out the window for hours watching the rain fall.... Kara Crawford and Dante De Matteo (what a great name he has!) are both at a mutual friends house for a dinner party one night. They haven't seen each other since high school. So when Kara sees Dante across the room, all grown up, looking handsome as ever and the firm contours of his body, she grabs her wine and takes off in the other direction. The last thing she needs is another romance. Kara is coming off a bad breakup after telling her now ex-boyfriend of her sexual fantasies. He thinks she's nuts, calling her a freak after she expressed a certain need to him. She can do without another person telling her she's not good enough...or a freak again. When Dante notices Kara after all these years, he sits down right next to her. They strike up an easy flowing conversation ending with a searing kiss reaching all the way down deep inside Kara...possibly igniting that certain need she was looking for? What happens next is something I'm normally not a fan of: sex in the beginning of the book. But because Eve establishes a relationship between these two and eased us into it, I was ok with it. After a fiery ardent weekend, Kara returns to work to meet the new partner at her firm. Dante. She is shocked to the core to see him there. Immediately, Kara wants to call off seeing each other. But how can she when she's finally getting what she wants in the bedroom...and liking it so much? It's what she craved, what she needed. Being the dominate authoritative man that he is, Dante tells Kara it's not happening; they're not calling of this thing they've started. And they don't. Kara is falling more and more each time they are together. But long deep rooted issues from her childhood are always in the back of Kara's making her question every action that is made by Dante. Did you ever have that feeling....that feeling where nothing makes sense at all but you're right where you're suppose to be? That's exactly how Kara and Dante are. Nothing makes sense to them. These burning desires and deep swirling emotions will leave these two in a challenging predicament. One that could bring them closer or tear them apart. There's something to be said about rain and sex mixed together that makes it so much more passionate, erotic. The idea of making love in the rain, the drops of water hitting your skin while in the act itself is sexy as hell. And the same goes for being inside when it rains. It provides a warm closeness that makes you want to curl up on a cozy sofa or bed and lay there on it all day. Kara and Dante have lots of steamy scenes in the water. Oh boy, were they hot each time! Is it possible to fall into subspace while reading one of Eve books? Because I think I came close to it. I swear, this book made me feel all the sensations Kara was feeling. Eve does not disappoint!

Review by Ivelisse: We all have sexual fantasies but can we really be honest with our significant others about what we want sexually without being judged? Kara Crawford has just been thru a bad break-up because she did just that. She told her boyfriend what she wanted to experience sexually and he flat out called her sick and disturbed. Kara never wanted to experience humiliation like that again. Dante De Matteo loves to play dominant games and when he sees Kara all grown-up at a mutual friend's party he decides he has to explore her body and see if she is up for his sexual games. Will Kara finally be able to give in to her desires without it breaking her heart as well? This book was absolutely wonderful. The interactions between Kara and Dante were always intense, even without the BDSM play. It was a perfect example of what happens when you let go and really talk to your significant other about the things you want. Kara finally gets the chance to explore the BDSM play and realizes this is what she has been longing for. When she comes to work after a long weekend with him, she sees he is now also a partner in the same firm she works at, she tries to keep it professional but Dante won't have it. A perfect example of how the submissive is always in control and how a dom treats his submissive. Eve Berlin unquestionably knows how capture the essence and the beauty of this type sexual play. The hero and heroine of this book do have issues that stem back from their childhood and plays a major role about how they view relationships now. I love the fact this story is one that can really happen between two people, when two people finally break down their walls and give love another chance and get their happy ever after. Fave line from book: "She hated that being female too often meant the reaction to anger was tears. It made her feel weak". (this is so true especially with me lol)
