I’m not usually a big fan of super explicit sex scenes. I’m more of a “just give me a general idea of what’s going on; I don’t need the specifics” kind of girl. But, I’ve read every single book Erica Lynn’s written and while super steamy, they’re all incredibly romantic. Besides, I’m tough. I can handle the “P” word and the “C” word. Pfffttt. Skip the sex scenes? Whatever. So, I put my big girl panties on, and I read them. Most of them (a few I had to read with my eyes closed strictly for survival reasons). While initially thinking Erica was passive aggressively calling me a “lightweight,” I soon realized she was actually saving me from new words. Like the “A” word and the “L” word. Sometimes when I couldn’t get my eyes closed fast enough, I encountered the “L” word as it pertained to the “P” word, followed closely by the “A” word (and this was all long before the “D” word ever joined the party). My eyes bled. “F” word!!! But as I made my way through Erica’s Erotic Alphabet, I was reminded what I love about her brand of storytelling. It’s not all about the sexy times for her. Her true focus is on her characters’ relationships, whether friendly or romantic. Her h’s are loyal to their friends and family first and foremost, and in romance, that’s uncommon. It doesn’t mean their romantic relationships suffer. On the contrary, it makes them stronger individuals going in. Erica doesn’t write door mats. She writes strong, driven women. Her H’s are authentic, reliable, and devoted. They’re also incredibly alpha, and while I usually go for the boy-next-door, I was A-OK with it...because, let’s be honest, my boy-next-door wouldn’t have the first clue how to handle one of Erica’s h’s. Erica writes erotic romance for romance lovers. She’s unapologetically herself, and that has never been more evident than it is in this latest effort. Check it out. I dare you not to blush.
