Sally Beauman’s international bestseller sweeps across decades and continents to tell a spellbinding story of star-crossed love
Edouard’s story begins in London in 1940. At fourteen, he’s the son of a baron and second in line to a dazzling jewelry dynasty.
Hélène’s story begins in Alabama in 1950. An only child, she lives with her mother in a trailer park and dreams of escaping her hardscrabble life.
Their paths cross in France, and a brief, passionate affair follows. They are separated by fate, and that seems to be the end. But Edouard cannot devote his life to business . . . not before finding Hélène again.
Destiny is Sally Beauman’s masterpiece about a man and a woman and their once-in-a-lifetime love.

This is my first review on a book. I loved this book, one could see some things that were coming but others were huh!?! I am so excited that I saw this on a list and really enjoyed this, I laughed, I cried and was instantly looking @ books by this author! I am not sure which one is next because my late nights reading this will make me take a break for a couple days!
I read 'Destiny' twice. It was THAT good. Another person had commented on the ending breaking your heart. NO JOKE! But it doesn't matter because the story is so beautiful. It was absolutely fantastic!!!!!
I must say, being so deeply involved in the characters' lives onyl made it harder for me to put the book down! I only disliked how the book skipped around from plot to plot, but it kept me in suspense. Definitly a must read.
I just finished Destiny. I took as long as I could to read it because I NEVER wanted it to end! I am on my way to the library to get the rest of Sally's books. I am sooooo glad I found this book. Thank you Sally!
This is one of the most amazing romances that I have ever read in my life, and i have read many. I fell in love with Edouard and Helene's love affair, and with the characterization of Edouard. Spanning three decades, it quickly consumes you into these characters lives. When it ends, I honestly felt like a piece of me was lost. And, I must warn you, it will end in a way that will break your heart forever.
This book was an assignment given to me by my Psychology teacher. It made a huge impact on me -- that was 13 years ago. Since that time I have yet to read a book as good and as captivating as this one.
