I have read all the books in this series, which are all books that you can't put down. In a great western the heroine is not helpless.

Overall, I enjoyed this story. I thought Hannah's past and her aversion to men was realistic. Jackson's guilt for his history in the war also seemed realistic. I thought that Hannah's anger toward Jackson for not helping her escape the bordello was understandable, but she seemed to move on from it a little too quickly. I thought that their first few kisses were kind of abrupt and awkward, and seemed somewhat out of place. I liked that Jackson was patient with Hannah, but also challenged her. There are a lot of references to God, faith, and forgiveness but it did not feel out of place. I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Determined was such a great read of overcoming stereotyoes. Hannah was a women who's only family sold her into prostitution, tried to get help , and then when denied help got out her own way. Now trying to exact revenge on those who did her wrong comes back to town with guns blazing. Jackson is a pastor who let his beliefs over run what was right, letting Hannah stay where he believed she asked to be. When these two meet again their chemistry sets the pages aflame. Such a great read that was skillfully written.

Hannah and Jackson's story was awesome. It had me hooked from the get go! All the things that Hannah has went through just breaks my heart for her and I felt like crying for her. That is how real the story felt while reading it. Sylvia did a fabulous job on this book! I am stoked for the next in the series!

Hannah is a bounty hunter who has come back to town to get revenge on her step father for selling her to the local madam. She ends up helping Jackson the Preacher who refused to help her escape the brothel when he was beaten up. Their story unfolds as they stop her step father from kidnapping another young girl and then they are able to also stop the local madam from running her business. Together they clean up the town. They are also able to overcome the unwelcoming congregation and find the love that they both needed. Together they heal not only themselves but the town that they live in.

The soiled dove and the preacher. Although soiled dove is so sad considering that Hannah was sold to the brothel without any say so whatsoever. Life was hard in those days of the wild west. Loved Hannah being such a strong character after the hardships that she endured. Enters the preacher Jackson. Jackson having his own devils to tame, stands up for Hannah and stands along side her in their quest for ridding the town of the corruption that keeps people silent. This is the first book I have read in the "Lipstick and Lead Novels, but it will not be my last. I was given a free copy of "Determined" by the author for an honest review.

Tackling a preacher and a soiled dove in a romance is a difficult task, but Sylvia McDaniel did a wonderful job. Preacher Jackson played his part to perfection! A brave and determined man with a haunted past of his own, and Hannah, who was rescued and now a bounty hunter is determined to get revenge on those who took her life from her. These two will take you on an exciting adventure, and leave a town wondering what hit them. This book did not disappoint me, and I hope you'll read this Lipstick and Lead series of strong women of the west from Sylvia McDaniel.

I loved the strong characters and the fact that they are the two most unlikely people to fall in love. Hannah and Jackson put the town on their ears as they come together to not only clean up the town but put some very bad men in jail. What do you do when your stepfather sales you into prostitution? You break out with help and become a bounty hunter with your first goal to kill the man who sold you, then take out the madam who made your life a living hell as you free the young girls she has bought. This isn't as easy as it sound when you are up against a town run by a corrupted lawman and a crooked madam and the preacher who turned his back on you in your hour of need. Hannah is my kind of lady strong and a go getter. She isn't letting any grass grow under her feet as she takes on the whole town to get even and set the record straight. When she sees a man being beaten she waits, takes him in when they leave him for dead. Only to find he is the preacher who turn his back on her when she begged for help. When most would have turned their back on him she takes care of him. She is on a mission to save the soled doves that have been kidnap to be sold into prostitution. With the preachers help somewhere along the way she might just find being with a man isn't a bad thing. When Jackson first came to town saw Hannah she beg him for help he said you made your bed now lay in it. When he found out girls were being taken and sold he felt guilty that he had not helped Hannah. He makes it his life work to help release those poor girls who were kidnapped in return he got beaten within an inch of his life. He might be a preacher but he is still a man and a sinner. He does his best to resist Hannah but somethings are hard as he finds out. He might not have helped her when she needed him the most but he values to keep her safe as she takes on the whole town bring justice to the girls done wrong by freeing them and cleaning up the town of outlaws. I would have liked to have known a little more about the stepfathers past. He just didn't come off to me as being dumb or even that mean. What he did do was bad but I just didn't get the mean bone feeling I should have. The madam is something else I could feel her meanness all the way along with the sheriff. Bring the towns people around now that was something and at times very funny. The author gives you a page turner before you know it you are so drawn in with all the twists and turns. Hannah has two goals to free the ladies and to kill. Jackson shows her a better way as he gives her his love in hopes she will find a better way to reach her goals. The author gives you a great read with some very serious issues as she installs humor to turn the characters around to her way of thinking. Hannah could have made some very bad choices the author gives you the preacher to show her the errors of her ways in this complex humors read. This was very well written with wonderful characters you can relate to. You get to see justice prevail as Hannah comes to her senses learning the correct way to bring her man in as well as take the town by storm. I really enjoyed this read found it to be very entertaining as well as having wonderful characters. I know others are going to enjoy this as much as I have.
