So, this was the story of Kid and how his experience was. I put 2 stars but it's really probably closer to 2.5. I didn't have as big of an issue with it as I did the first two books in the series, but it's still a lot to take in. There is less triggers in this one for me, but it's still a lot of situations that I'm not ok with and it made it uncomfortable to read. It seems like it ends up ok, but that's kind of for each reader to determine I guess.

Terrifying, but Extremely Good Read!! This is very hard to say, and I'm not really sure this should be said about a book that contains such dark material, but I absolutely loved this book. It was so well written and so well done that you cannot help but love it. The way CJ Roberts connected the events of what happened in the The Dark Duet with the events that are occurring in the Bonus Material, which is also known as Determined to Obey, was nothing sort of brilliant. The use of alternating POVs given in short snippets to tell the story was perfect and sheer genius. This novella focuses on Kid, Celia and Felipe, who were secondary characters in the Dark Duet. I must say that I felt so badly for Kid, who had been wrongly accused, and was forced to suffer because of that accusation. I really did not like Felipe and Celia despite loving what they orchestrated for Caleb and Livvie. I just did not get the same feelings that got with Caleb and Livvie with them. Their treatment of Kid was repulsive to me and as far as I am concerned it did not get any better as the story went along. Felipe and Celia were awful and extremely manipulative, and I felt like Kid was just too afraid not to obey them and that all of his choices were taken away from him without him even realizing that it had been done. Anyway, this book is a great addition to the Dark Duet and is well worth the read and allows you to discover all of the other events that were occurring at the same time as those in the Dark Duet. CJ Roberts has given us readers another great read. I cannot wait to see what else she has in store for us.
