Captivating is the only word I can use to aptly describe Miss Bailey's latest story of the cursed brothers, David and Develyn. I was entranced by [[ASIN:0974008664 Forever David's], wondering at the tormented soul of David's brother, Develyn, and hating myself for sympathizing with the unrepentent vampire. In this enchanting continuation, Develyn's voice is finally heard. Heartbreaking and tormented, bound by secrets that he dare not whisper aloud, Develyn battles with the demon that he is and the human that he once was. Emily has become trapped between the events of the present and future, uncertain of her standing in her own life, privy to secrets that bind her to the man she loves and the other man that pulls unrelentingly at her heart, despite the evil that appears to evolve around him. I couldn't put Develyn's Tale down for a second, drawn to the thoughts and images that dart through Develyn's often tortured mind, actually rooting him on in his quest to redeem himself in his own world, where redemption is not sought and the hunger of a vampire is more often embraced. I ached for Emily, desperate to protect her child from the horrors of the world in which he is part, and the re-appearance of the familiar characters from Develyn's own household that seek the best for their beloved Emily. Develyn's Tale has breathless and unexpected ending that makes me crave more. Kudos to Ms. Bailey and I can't wait for The End of the Order!
