Overview

Dewberry and the Lost Chest of Paragon (The Fairy Chronicles Series #11) by J. H. Sweet, Holly Sierra

Dewberry's fairy spirit is one of great knowledge and wisdom. Unfortunately, wisdom takes longer to acquire than knowledge!

In her constant quest to obtain ever more knowledge, Dewberry uncovers the Legend of Paragon, an ancient ruler, and his three marshals-Exemplar, Criterion, and Apotheosis. Dewberry enlists the aid of her friends, Primrose and Snapdragon, in seeking the Lost Chest of Paragon, rumored to contain a great gift of ancient and powerful knowledge, one she hopes to share with all of mankind.

But when the chest is found, a catastrophe occurs, one so powerful that even fairy magic is nowhere near strong enough to fix the problem. But it was Dewberry's relentless search for knowledge that caused this disaster in the first place, and she will have to do everything she can to make it right again...

My girls love this book and have read it twice each. They got the lesson but liked the fact that Dewberry didn't get into too much trouble. They also particularly enjoyed the magic of this, for example the fairy gifts and wands. I like that this book makes my girls want to read more.

The fact that the books of this series are becoming more serious in nature is keeping my daughter and nieces enthralled with the stories. The personalities of the characters are also becoming more complex and interesting. Dewberry is reckless and determined but not so much that she forgets to be remorseful in the latter part of the story. And she demonstrates that she can learn a valuable lesson. The magical parts of this fairy tale captured our imaginations but the serious parts are what we are going to remember the most.
