I just finished reading Diamondback. What an awesome mystery! I loved it! Couldn't put it down. The characters, the dialogue and the setting are so real I felt I was in Perdue breathing the dust and listening to the rattlesnakes buzz. Excellent and well-constructed plot! I had no idea whodunit until the end. The suspense kept me turning the pages faster and faster. The main character, Taylor Madison is one of the best and strongest female characters I have read in a long time. Very unique and original. And Cal, her new love interest, is such a cutie! I'm glad this is a series because I can't wait to read more about these characters. Oh, and it was so funny in places I was laughing out loud. What a wry sense of humor this author has! I also loved the heroine's pet ferret, all the interesting secondary characters, the creepy snakes...just everything. This author has incredible talent and skill. Count me in as a major fan!!!!
I seldom read a book in one sitting. Diamondback was an exception. I loved the characters. I could see them, hear them, empathize with them. Taylor Madison is a witty Texas gal with true grit. This is a must read!
Mix one engaging city-bred heroine searching for her past with one small Texas town being dragged reluctantly into the present. Combine with a host of eccentric characters, a barn full of dangerous secrets, and a death no one wants to believe was murder. Add a nice dose of romance and enough rattlesnakes to give Indiana Jones nightmares. Garnish with a charming little ferret named Hazel. And serve: a tasty new mystery you'll be sorry to finish up.
This fascinating mystery set in West Texas rattlesnake country is so good, that for the first time in 35 years I skipped my ironing day -- the book arrived on my ironing day and I couldn't put it down. Wait until you meet Hazel -- you'll be smitten for life. Special note to Ms. Dearl - please hurry and write the next one; I can hardly wait to find out what happens to Taylor and Hazel next.
