Overview

Diary of a Teenage Taxidermist (New Adult jock/goth romance) by K. A. Merikan

--- Too cool for school. ---

Ethan is a levelheaded, some might say 'antisocial', young artist-entrepreneur with a love for quirky taxidermy. He is close to graduating high school and at a crossroads. All he wants is to develop his business further, yet all his parents want is for him to go to law school. That is more than enough problems for Ethan, so any kind of love life is off his agenda. That is until Robert Hunter, the quarterback of the football team, comes crashing into him. Literally.

Robert drifts along in high school. He has good grades, he's getting ready for med school, he's even leaving potentially problematic dating until college. He's gay, not ashamed of it, but he doesn't want to stir up any trouble. His carefully laid plans might just go completely off the rails though, when he drinks too much at a party and causes irreversible damage to Ethan, the school's weirdo.

Robert has to face the fact that maybe he isn't the good guy he always considered himself to be. And maybe he doesn't want to go to med school. And maybe, just maybe, he doesn't actually want to wait with dating until college.

About the Author

K. A. Merikan is the pen name for Kat and Agnes Merikan, a team of writers, who are taken for sisters with surprising regularity. Kat's the mean sergeant and survival specialist of the duo, never hesitating to kick Agnes's ass when she's slacking off. Her memory works like an easy-access catalogue, which allows her to keep up with both book details and social media. Also works as the emergency GPS. Agnes is the Merikan nitpicker, usually found busy with formatting and research. Her attention tends to be scattered, and despite pushing thirty, she needs to apply makeup to buy alcohol. Self-proclaimed queen of the roads.

They love the weird and wonderful, stepping out of the box, and bending stereotypes both in life and books. When you pick up a Merikan book, there's one thing you can be sure of - it will be full of surprises.

I was given this in return for an honest review by Inked Rainbow Reads. I got assigned this book because no one else would take it because of it's title. So I'm the one who got the amazing pleasure of reading this gem. It's utterly fantastic. Beautifully written, FUN, and sexy as hell. Ethan-I'm-Not-Goth! and Robert-Star-Quarterback are an unlikely pair, thrown together by violence and its fallout, including a non-consensual encounter. It's not what you think. Yes, trigger warning, this book takes itself very seriously, and won't be for everyone. And yes, there is a lot of taxidermy. Which is really interesting, and creative, and visual, but again, not for everybody. If you're willing to throw caution to the wind for teenage sexcapades, this is the book for you. I learned something and had fun cheering on the characters. Isn't that what comes of great books? C.E. Case

When i read the sample and the reviews i thought what school would have a book like this but it was a really good imagery and i really enjoyed it especially when Ethan said if Robert wanted it done to him

I'll be honest when I began this book I didn't have much hope I'd like it, oh how wrong I was! Small Ethan who to others with his dyed black hair resembled a Goth type.   Large well built football hero Robert, well there is nothing wrong with how he looks plus he is popular. While at a party something happens and Robert comes to Ethans rescue.  There is more to it but I'll just say "spoiler" and leave it at that. With Ethan in hospital, Roberts guilt when Ethan wakes he makes Robert agree to something even though it doesn't please Robert. I'm just going to say that I was really wondering where this was going to go but the turn of tide in the events is pleasant.  Yes Ethan has a talent for being a taxidermist and likes odd things art and music wise, But Robert softens and things really change.  Robert has plans for college because it's the sensible thing to do but his love is cooking and he is a total foodie. I'll be reading more of these authors works in the future.
