About the Author

Robert Weisskopf, or rather Bob as his friends call him, grew up in Chicago where he still lives. His neighborhood changed from German and Irish to Hispanic to Urban gentrification. He grew up with large group of friends who lived and breathed sports. He and his friends hung out at the old St. Sebastian's school yard where they learned everything from a full court press to the birds and the bees.
His father was a Chicago Police Lieutenant and had retired after 33 years with the CPD. Before that Bob's father had apprenticed under his father as a pastry chef. Bobs father provided a strong role model.
Bob entered the Chicago Police Academy on Valentine's Day, 1983. Bob took to this career with a passion he never knew before. Over the course of the next thirty years he would rise from Police Officer, to Sergeant, to Lieutenant. As Lieutenant he became interested in union and labor issues. He became a member of the Lieutenants Union and eventually served as its president for six years. He also became of the Police Benevolent Protective Association which was the statewide umbrella for the Lieutenants union. He was vice president when he retired and stepped down from the board.
As a young Police officer he met his soon to be bride. They dated about a year and then one day she accepted his marriage proposal. Married a year later they enjoyed their lives and started having kids. Three sons, Bobby, Jimmy, and Patrick brightened their home. To this day their sons are the brightest part of their lives.
Unfortunately life happens and eventually Bob and his wife grew apart and separated. Divorced after 17 years of marriage they went on to lead their own lives. For Bob this never diminished the importance of him remaining close and involved in his son's lives.
His son's moved with their mother to Oswego Il., fifty miles away. This meant he spent many long hours in heavy traffic and bad weather to make sure he would be there for his sons.
His son Bob came to live with him for eight years. A couple years back Bob moved out on his own. At the same time Jim and Pat moved in. Now with a home filled with sons and dogs Bob perfects his cooking and spends his time writing and riding his Gold Wing motorcycle.
This year he turns 60 years old so this is just the beginning of the story.
