About the Author

From a rock music journalist to a New York Times & USA Today bestselling author for The Pact, Where Sea Meets Sky, The Artists Trilogy series, and over 20 other books, Karina Halle has seen a lot of the world. Luckily, all the years of dabbling in different careers and traversing the globe has given her the perfect background for her stories. Whether it's writing horror romance, romantic suspense or contemporary romance, Karina manages to combine very real people and relationships with very edgy circumstances. When she's not writing about flawed characters or chilling situations, you can find her on Salt Spring Island, BC, drinking wine in her 1920's farmhouse with her husband and their adopted pitbull.

I really had no words after reading this one to describe how good it was. It was so incredibly brutal, but yet in the end beautiful in its own way too. No question about it, Javier is evil so going into this book you know it isn't going to be a sweet romance story. I think Karina even surprised me with just how bad he could be, but in the end you still find yourself rooting for him. I still can't figure out why that is, because I've always been so firmly set on liking the good guys. I guess in this book what it boiled down to was the lesser of two evils, and boy oh boy was Esteban pure evil. Dirty Promises is one heck of a roller coaster ride with plenty of suspense to keep you on the edge of your seat. It's going to make you question just how much you can handle, but then it throw you right past that point giving you far more than you ever thought you could. It's intense and wild and sexy and just sooo much more. You cannot read this as a stand-alone, so I highly suggest you read all of the Dirty Angels books before you even attempt to read this. Better yet, read the Artist series before that too, because it will truly give you a bigger picture on Jaiver's character. I've loved this series so much and I'm sad that this is the end, but I think Javier deserves to just rule his empire in what little peace he can find in his line of work. Karina...once again you amazed me with your incredible talent. You are so brilliant I just can't handle it sometimes, so keep up the wonderful work! lol

I basically stayed up all night reading this gruesome and disturbingly lovely story just because I can't freaking get enough of Javier and Luisa Bernal! This is the baddest and yes horrifically loyal narco couple ever! Both did their Dirty deeds, both betrayed each other but through some sick connection they still loved one another and despite every single horrible thing Luisa has been through in her young life, because let's not forget people that this magnificent narco beauty Queen is only in her early twenties, she a strong and confident, albeit disturbed woman...despite a few emotional setbacks caused by Esteban and his sick as heck minions! I don't care who agrees with me or who doesn't but this couple freaking rocks! They got to the top together and they will freaking die together as well, but at the end of the day, that won't even matter as long as they are together, their empire is in family hands and their enemies have been vanquished! So please read the authors note at the beginning of the book, it is extremely important and vital to the book! This is the most dark and gritty book in this series and if you, the reader, aren't prepared to read about all the crazy stuff not only Javier and Luisa do to exact revenge on those who have taken from them, then you sure as hell will not be prepared to read about those who have damaged them to begin with! There is some sick stuff in here, some necessary and unnecessary evil....take it to heart and be warned! Please do not read only to give a negative review because you were disgusted or offended at the events that occurred in this story when you've been warned by the author and other readers! It's not fair to Ms. Halle who, I feel, did an excellent job with this entire series and left me wanting more of Javier and Luisa Bernal! SR

This is a depraved tale alright. But so wonderfully written I couldn't not enjoy the depravity. Don't know what that says about me. You HAVE to read this book and every other book written by this author.
