About the Author

Megan Erickson grew up in a family that averages 5’5” on a good day and started writing to create characters who could reach the top kitchen shelf.

She’s got a couple of tattoos, has a thing for gladiators, and has been called a crazy cat lady. After working as a journalist for years, she decided she liked creating her own endings better and switched back to fiction.

She lives in Pennsylvania with her husband, two kids, and two cats. And no, she still can’t reach the stupid top shelf.

I can't even tell you just how excited I was to learn that Megan was writing this series. I loved the look we got at Max's brothers during his book, Make it Right, so heck yes I was thrilled to find out they would be getting books of their own.  Dirty Thoughts pushed all my buttons – but in a great way! I'm a second chance romance fan, so I couldn't wait to see what happened when Cal and his first love, Jenna, were face-to-face again. And hot, sweaty, dirty mechanics? Yes, please. I've been to several garages in my time, but I've never found a man like Cal working in any of them. Sadly enough. I guess I'll just have to keep looking.  I really liked Cal and Jenna both. I loved the dynamic between them. Their banter was witty and their chemistry leapt off the pages. It was obvious that, despite their years apart, neither of them ever truly moved on. I loved reading along as these two characters found a way to navigate past the bumpy parts of their history and embrace the idea of a future together.  If you're looking for your next favorite adult contemporary romance, look no further. Not only was Dirty Thoughts a great start to what I'm sure will be another fantastic series by Megan Erickson, but it had all the romance, humor and emotion I love so much in this genre. It also had a fair dose of dirty, and we all know I enjoy that, too. ;)  I received a copy of this book from the publisher, via Edelweiss, in exchange for an honest review.

Thanks to Megan Erickson, I now expect to find a gruff, slightly grungy, hot-as-sin mechanic the next time I get my oil changed, and I'm going to be severely disappointed. You need to step up your game, Jiffy Lube. Just sayin'. I'm always a fan of well executed second-chance-love stories and DIRTY THOUGHTS did not let me down. I loved the banter, the tension and the smexy times. I fell in love with Jenna and Cal and I'm super excited for the next book! AAAAAND I got a much needed Max fix too! DIRTY THOUGHTS is a steamy start to a new series!

Seriously, Megan Erickson can do no wrong. This is the first time that I read a book by Megan that isn’t in her Cyberlove and In Focus series, I’m trying to read all of her books and I know that at some point I will and right now is the time for her Mechanics of Love series. This is a second chance romance book, I usually don’t go for those because I feel like there’s usually a lot of hurt and pain from the first moment and sometimes I just don’t feel like going through that. This book is not like that, yes, the characters are still hurting from the past, but the way they interact is perfect!!! The writing is fantastic! I couldn’t put down the book, the Payton brothers are hilarious and you can really tell that they care for one another a whole lot. Cal is your grumpy with a heart of gold type of guy and throughout the book we see him opening up not only to Jenna (who broke his heart), but to his family as well. I really enjoyed the book and I’m super excited about the next ones.

I received this book from #RWA15. My review is as a reader not a writer. I wish Barnes and Nobles used decimal points, as well because Ms. Erickson's Dirty Thoughts is between a 4.8 and 4.9. I loved her opening scene. She gave me broody, grumpy, and humor wrapped in two alpha men. I could have stayed with them for pages and laughed out loud. But the story seemed to slow and I put the book down. While away from it, I thought about Cal (hero), Brent (brother) and Jenna (heroine) so I picked it up again. Those middle pages added Asher and Max and the humor flowed brilliantly. I couldn't put the book down. And that is why I can't give it a 5 but it doesn't deserve just a 4. I would definitely recommend this book to any contemporary romance fan. It is fun, flirty and yes dirty. The sex scenes are hot but they are centered in one section of the book. Perfect for skipping over if that isn't your cup of tea.

Dirty Thoughts is the first book in a new series by Megan Erickson. This is also the first book I have read from this author. This series is a series based on a family of brothers, a mechanics family. This concept was very interesting, because this is a first for me, reading a romance that deals with one of the main characters being a car mechanic. I have to say sexy as all get out!! I had so much fun with this story and couldn’t put it down. What a page turner too!! The writing that Megan Erickson displays in this story is so engaging and immediately draws you in. I do love it when authors can do that for a reader. That no matter what your mood, you can still fall in love with a story. What really drew me most to this book was the “second chance” trope. I just adore this trope in romance novels because its such a romantic concept that in the real world most people only dream about, and in this story it becomes a reality. Both Cal and Jenna have a past with each other. They were high school sweethearts, but were really in love with each other. But they were driven apart by circumstances neither of them had much control over. They moved on, worked and for ten years they have been apart, but neither of them have entered other relationships. That is something I quite enjoyed, because you sense how right they are for each other. But we have another aspect roll into the story…the step brother, a teenager who doesn’t feel safe at home and wants to live with Cal. This is where the relationship between Cal and Jenna begins to shift from getting to know each other and being friends into something more. Now let me talk about these brothers. Boy did I have a rockin’ time with all of them. We have the two brothers that Cal raised Brent and Gabe. Both brothers are a bit different but you they have similar traits too. And I can’t wait for their stories. Then we have the step brother who is gay, (a unique twist), and we see some seeds that could be a future story–maybe? We will see what this author does. I truly had a fun time with this one, and what a truly tender and poignant story and still have some lighter moments that seemed to balance the story out for this reader!!

My Thoughts: I was more than happy to get my hands on this precious novel. Every single book by Megan Erickson has been amazing, and I'm always anxious to see what she has in store next. I heard the words "sexy mechanics" and immediately needed to find out more. After finishing, I have to say I'm very excited to read more in the series. Cal and Jenna haven't seen each other in years, so when they meet again, all the old feelings resurface. There's still the wariness, but they can't contain the desire they can still feel when near each other. As much as they try to fight or deny or ignore it, it isn't going to go away. They cave in, but try to step back. Then Cal gets a huge surprise at his doorstep. I won't go into details because it honestly made the book even better not knowing and discovering this fact as you read. All I'm going to say is MY HEART. Everything that happened after the surprise was so heartwarming and lovely. Jenna steps into Cal's life as a friend, and it's so lovely how the last half of the story comes together. Cal and Jenna have something very special, and if they're willing to, they can have it all. Dirty Thoughts is a sexy, touching novel. You're pulled in by the sexual tension, and you don't want to leave because pretty soon your heart is invested in their lives and in their love. You watch in real time as Cal and Jenna blossom together and separately. The families and friends add so much to the story, especially with regard to the surprise. Especially the John Hughes scene--it made me giggly. I loved it all the way through and am very excited to read Brent's story in Dirty Talk! My Rating: Very Good

Cal Payton’s life is the perfect example of: Once bitten, twice shy. Yes, readers, I fell hard for this man of few words, but who said so much with his sexy, steel-blue eyes. Cal gave up his teenage dream of marrying his high school girlfriend long ago, who will always be the love of his life. Along with his dreams of marriage, a white picket fence home, 2.5 kids and a dog. Yep, that dream went out the door ten years ago with Jenna MacMillan, the only girl that gave him hope that his future was going to be as bright as the sun, because she was his sunshine. Now, Cal has become a little bitter, grumbly and definitely broody. He knows he’s starting to become like his father. A man that Cal never wanted to be like. But just when Cal’s staring to accept that his father's life as his own, that there's no room in his heart for love, dangit if Sunshine doesn't come rolling right back into his life, making Cal's heart feel all warm and alive again, and Cal's Sunshine has a name, Jenna MacMillan. Jenna didn't think she would ever return to her hometown after running off to New York when she left Cal, the love of her life. Jenna thought that after ten years she would be over Cal, until she meets him—now a man—and those sexy, silvery blue eyes, and then she’s right back where she was ten years ago, head-over-heels in love with him. Jenna now knows there won’t be any getting over Cal Payton. She loved him as a teenage boy and she loves him even more as a grown man. But what Jenna did ten years ago to the boy has hardened the man. Jenna is determined to be Cal's Sunshine again and bring the light back to those sexy steel-blue eyes that still owns her heart. Dirty Thoughts is a beautiful romance story about a meant-to-be love, but it's also about family and the sacfices Cal and Jenna both made for each other over their families that almost cost them their love. But in the end, it was because of family that gave Cal and Jenna their second chance for their happily ever after. I recommend Dirty Thoughts as a sexy, that will touch your heart romance must read.

Cal and Jenna have not seen each other in 10 years.  Cal feels that he is incapable of love and spent all that he had on getting his brothers to adulthood and does not want that kind of commitment any more.  Jenna returns home and almost immediately sees Cal.  She wants her white picket fence and kids and Cal is adamant that he can't give her what she wants. Jenna thinks that Cal has way more to give than he realizes and it takes a surprise visit from an unexpected person to really give Cal the realization that he does have the capacity to keep loving people.  Jenna has her own family issues that, again, rear their ugly  head and almost cost her Cal again.  Both of them strive to find a balance and not cause the other to run away.  It was well done and a nice, easy read.  I liked that both Jenna and Cal in this book and will definitely read book 2.

I want to thank Avon Impulse for providing me with a copy of this book to read and give an honest review. Receiving this book for free has in no way altered my review or opinion. I have been a fan of Megan Erickson since the first few words I read in Make It Count. I love how she portrays her characters. None are perfect and all have such interesting backgrounds and trains of thought. I also like that she writes her books in third person. Normally I would have trouble connecting with third person characters. But Megan's books all have a very distinct voice and tempo that make it work for me. And I love that this series is a spin off of the Bowler series (because Max's story in that series was my favorite and these books are about his brothers!). Jenna has returned to her home town after 10 years away. There is history for her there, mostly in the form of Cal Payton, her high-school sweetheart whose heart she broke all those years ago. So moving back brings a flood of memories for her and feelings she thought she had long since gotten over (but it seems she's really only buried them). Jenna intends to make a fresh start and believes she can live in the same town as Cal without having her past interfere. But boy is she wrong. I love how Jenna embraces her feelings for her past and what has happens all the while trying to move on with her future. At the same time, she struggles with what her heart really wants, even though her head tells her she shouldn't want it. Her conflict is real and emotional and something that I think so many woman can identify with at some point in their lives. Letting go is easier said than done. Cal has built a wall around himself. He's resigned himself to being a bachelor and convinced his mind that this is the only way for him to live. He tries his hardest to believe that keeping a distance between himself and anything that resembles love will keep him safe. All those years ago his heart was broken by the one girl he could ever love. So when she moves back to town, and all his feelings come flooding back, it's hard for him to keep his mind separate from his heart. Cal is tough as nails and doesn't want to let anyone in. But Jenna has an effect on him he didn't think could ever resurface and his struggles come to the surface. I was totally endeared to Cal. I loved the way he was so protective of his family and those he loves. I especially love how hard he works, even in guarding his heart. But he's so much more than he appears to be on the surface, with a heart big enough to share with just about anyone. When life's complications rear their ugly head, he tries his hardest to embrace them, only to feel inadequate in the process. Though the plot line of this book was easy for me to figure out (after the monkey wrench you didn't see coming was thrown in), I still enjoyed watching the characters grow and learn. I especially liked watching them open themselves up to each other, laying their hearts on the line even with the potential of heartbreak in the mix. Of course both Jenna and Cal have a hard time breaking down their walls, and there are those moments when you just want to hit both of them in their heads for their stubbornness. But Erickson does not disappoint with a happily ever after and a story that keeps you enthralled from the first pages you read. Rekindled romances are so much fun. I love watching the characters struggle and grow and change and ultimately fall back in love. I love the happy feelings it induces. The intensity of such romances is only amplified by the history the characters share. Erickson does this trope well. This book is filled with sexy scenes, romantic gestures, tons of character growth and love. A wonderful addition to Ericsson's slew of romance books! Fans of Jennifer L. Armentrout/J. Lynn and Colleen Hoover will enjoy this romantic love story of two souls who were lost until they re-found love!

211 pages. This was a fun read, I would have rated it a bit higher if not for the over use of the F-word, really it has no impact whatsoever when over used as it often is and in this book, just gratuitous use for no reason and it's just...stupid, unnecessary and all sorts of other negative adjectives. You DO NOT need it to make your characters sound tough! I'll say it again, you don't NEED it, find more original words or better yet just show that the char is tough through actions. Still, I liked the characters and some unexpected developments that I sure did not see coming which is a good thing. If you can get past the F-bombs everywhere it's not a bad story and worth the $1.99
