Disaster At Roosevelt Ranch by Elise Faber

I slept with the wrong twin.
And all I got for it in return was a broken heart.
Oh yeah, and a baby on the way--there's that too.
But I'm determined to make it on my own. I don't need a man, thank you very much. Not rich, charismatic, and decidedly flighty Rex Roosevelt, and especially not his twin brother, Justin.
No matter that the gorgeous former military doctor makes my heart beat a little faster . . . and all spots lower pay careful, careful attention.
None of that matters. The Roosevelt men are dangerous and I'm steering clear.
The trouble is, Justin refuses to leave me be.
And deep down, I don't want to avoid him.
Deep down, I want to be even closer.

This was a change of pace for me, an easy read despite the rather heavy subject matter. Kelly finds herself in a very difficult situation, pregnant after being dumped by her boyfriend/ex-employer. She then works for Henry, her best friend since childhood at his family's diner. Things get complicated when her ex-boyfriend's brother shows up at the diner and to make it worse, they're twins. When Kelly goes to Rex's ranch to drop the baby news, she finds out that he has left the country and Justin is now trying to salvage the ranch and hopefully make it a profitable venture. Her love for horses brings her back to the ranch every morning to look after them. She develops a rapport with Justin and slowly but surely, things go from complex to disaster proportions. Kelly is a very strong and independent woman who has had her fair share of childhood trauma. I really enjoyed following her journey through the pages of this book. A great new addition to the Contemporary Romance genre! I was given this as an ARC which I have voluntarily read.

Heat Level: 3 flames out of 5 Rating: 4.5 stars out of 5 This is a romance set in a small town where everyone knows everyone’s business. Kelly loves horses. Her life revolved around horses until it didn’t. When Rex, the new owner of the Roosevelt Ranch, fires Kelly she no longer has a connection with the horses she loves or Rex, the man that stole her heart. Rex is super rich and starts one get rich adventure after another. In his wake, he also leaves a trail of broken hearts. Justin Rex’s responsible twin brother is left with the clean-up. This time the clean up involves Kelly, a woman that Justin feels an instant connection to. A woman that he should stay away from. Not only is she Rex’s ex, but she is also pregnant with Rex’s child. The chemistry between Kelly and Justin is hot with humor and sass. I loved the interaction between this couple. The pacing was fast and I really had to finish this story as soon as I started reading it. Great HEA ending. This story really let you in on what the characters were going through. This is the first book that I have read by Elise Faber. I enjoyed it so much, I may have to look into reading more. Who doesn't love a book about a deliciously divine cowboy? Then you find out that there is 2 because they are twins...HUBBA HUBBA HUBBA!! What an insane twisty turny story with ups and down, love and hate, raging hormones and a baby to boot. This story make me laugh, giggle, rage and cry. It sucked me in with how defiantly strong Kel was about everything. Even when she made herself vulnerable I was touched. This is a must read and a roller-coaster of a read!

Disaster. Yup, that happens to a lot of us but not like Kelly. How could she have known? All she can do is suck it up and keep going forward because that's really all she can do. She needs to talk to Rex though. Enter Justin. Now, it's definitely a disaster. I love this book and how it captures each character's personality, fears and happiness, it made me feel them too. It took me out of the real world and into Kelly's world. The storyline flowed with no snags and it wasn't overly descriptive, and had me interested fairly quick. I love how it takes place in a small town and how everyone is kind of like family. I love the author's writing style and spunkiness that I will read all of her books. Well done Elise Faber. 5 amazing stars.

Reviewed by Rosie Malezer for Readers' Favorite Disaster at Roosevelt Ranch is a romance novel written by Elise Faber. Kelly Hamilton feels like her life is in a sudden tail spin. She hadn’t planned on falling pregnant to Rex Roosevelt, but she knew that telling him about the baby was the right thing to do. When Kelly arrives at the ranch to do just that, she learns that Rex has left for an extended vacation just as his twin brother, Justin, shows up to take care of the ranch. Although identical twins, Rex is a flake who never follows through on business proposals, while Justin had just returned home from the war. An air force pilot and surgeon, his demeanor and mannerisms are nothing like his brother’s. As Kelly leaves the ranch, she tells Justin that she’d just found out she is pregnant. This makes Justin determined to become a part of Kelly’s life, but they keep each other at arm’s length; Kelly is carrying Rex’s baby and his twin brother courting her is utterly unthinkable, regardless of the circumstances. It isn’t until the night of a severe thunderstorm, when Kelly is kicked by a horse, that she truly needs Justin’s help. During her recovery, they start getting to know one another, growing closer until the most sickening proposal is made by the twins’ father, Vincent, sending Kelly’s life spiraling out of control and making her determined never to set foot on Roosevelt Ranch again. Emotions run deep in this complex tale of true love versus material wealth. Elise Faber’s exquisite combination of romance, drama, tragedy and conflict kept my interest piqued from start to finish. All of the characters in the book were given an immense depth, enabling the reader to properly connect on an emotional level. Kelly is a woman who'd had a horrific childhood and was raised by her sister while both girls were minors. She'd been unaware that most of the town’s folk had chipped in to help the sisters, enabling them to have a chance at a decent life. My concern throughout the book was the survival and welfare of Kelly’s baby, after one twin had deserted her and the other was unable to get emotionally involved with his brother’s baby-mama. Although there are many story lines working their way through the pages simultaneously, they all blended perfectly, bringing the suspense throughout the novel to a spectacular conclusion. I thoroughly enjoyed Disaster at Roosevelt Ranch and plan to add it to my home library when it becomes available in print. I recommend this book to all those who like a little extra spice in their otherwise ordinary romance, where drama, action and sizzle are sprinkled throughout in just the right doses.

DARR was such a quick, fun read that perfectly blends all the feels with sweet, comedic moments that will leave you with a satisfying HEA. Kelly is a strong, sassy lead who can handle the tough but sensitive and very sexy Justin. Their moments were genuine and the snark kept me smiling while tackling greater issues of pain and healing. Definitely worth the read.

Disaster at Roosevelt, Ranch Elise Faber Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews   Genre:  Women’s Fiction, Romance I’ve enjoyed several of Elise’ novels now, mainly fantasy ones so this was a step in the dark for me. Would I like a contemporary romance by her? The answer – yes :-) Poor Kelly, life dealt her a rotten hand, she works so hard and everything seems to go wrong for her. A drunk for a mother, who sold her horse and spent her university loan money, so she couldn’t go, yet she still pulled herself up. she took a place on a ranch, working with the horses with the option to buy one, then its sold and the new owner defaults on that too....She still goes there though, works for free as she loves the horses, especially Stella – the one she wanted to buy. Rex, the new owner, didn’t just take away her horse though when he fired her, he took away her self respect, and worse, she’s just found she’s pregnant! Goes up to the ranch to tell him, only to find Rex has decamped for new pastures, and probably new ladies... leaving his twin Justin to pick up the mess as always. Its the role they play, Rex is their father’s golden boy, always full of the next new idea, the next way he’s going to make a fortune, leaving Justin to clean up whatever went wrong on the last venture and pay off any leftover ladies, keeping the family scandal free. When Justin sees Kelly though there’s a real spark between them, and if Rex was like a candle flame for her, Justin is a huge bonfire... There’s a small issue though – the baby. Justin is a doctor, done a stint in the Forces and has a real protective streak. Things happen to Kelly that really brings that out and they get closer – and closer. Of course it all comes to a head, vicious words said earlier are thrown around when Rex and his dad come to the ranch, and poor Kelly - I so felt for her. I did think though that she was a little too quick to forgive. I’d be demanding more answers, why that was said, and taken much longer to get over it. Words can be really damaging – maybe she’s just so used to them from her past they roll off? Dunno, but I so wanted to give her a hug. There were some good secondary characters too – Kelly’s sister, owner of the cafe where Kelly works, Henry, I so loved him. Esther – I think that was her name - the old lady who had tea with lemon and a sandwich daily. I so want to be her when I’m old (OK, older...) and of course the horses ;-) Well, I love them, so its a bonus to find them in a story. Its a fun read, a little superficial and light but a sweet escape with a HEA    Stars: Four. ARC supplied for review purposes by Netgalley and publisher

I really enjoyed this book. We have Kelly, the home town girl who dated the bad boy rich guy Rex and then was left by him. In comes his twin Justin to try and correct Rex's mistakes. Justin always swoops in and fixes his twins mistakes but this time he's not prepared for what he finds. Kelly and Justin's relationship starts off rocky and they both deny what happening. This was a great story and I can't wait to see what Elise comes up with next.
