"5 Five-Alarm, blazing stars for Dishonorable. Riveting, suspenseful, emotional." The Read Report

To repay a family debt, innocent virgin Sofia is forced to marry a stranger. Soon she finds herself drawn to her dark captor…

I knew nothing of Raphael Amado's past with my family, but when he turned up on our doorstep demanding restitution for an old debt, my grandfather quickly conceded. That restitution? Me.

Six months later, on my eighteenth birthday, Raphael came to claim me. This is where our story begins.

Author's Note: Dishonorable is a steamy standalone enemies-to-lovers dark romance in the Amado Brothers' world.

This story really kept me captivated and interested from the start. It's definitely darker than my normal read and I wasn't sure I would like it, but I'm so glad that I went for it. Dishonorable was gritty, emotional, and sexy and Raphael Amado is one of the most memorable characters I've encountered in a long time. Raphael is a complex anti-hero and I went back and forth between hating and loving him throughout the book. He is so broken and angry when we first meet him, but as the story progresses you see how his past and thirst for vengeance has shaped him into the man he is today. In his moments of vulnerability, you can't help but feel compassion for him, but then a minute later, his cruelty and aggression will surface and the reader (and Sofia) are left reeling. I'll be honest, there were parts of this book that were hard for me to get through and I felt like I was going to get whiplash from the back and forth between Raphael and Sofia. Please keep in mind though, that this is not my typical read and so this could totally just be me. Speaking of Sofia, I was a bit confused by her. Sometimes you can definitely see her immaturity (she is after all only 18), but then at other times, she displayed a maturity way beyond her years. I'm also not sure what to think about her sexual experiences with Raphael. On the one hand they could be viewed as hot and sensual, but on the other, it's degrading and humiliating the way she is treated. I understand that she is quickly seduced by Raphael's darkness and sees the man behind the mask, but I did find her too trusting and her willingness was alarming. I did like her as a character, but I definitely didn't connect with her like I have other heroines. Dishonorable is a stand alone, but I would actually love to find out more about Lina and Damon, as well as the final Amado sibling, Zach. This is the first book that I have read by this author and though this story was on the darker side for me, it was still an interesting and riveting read.

Is there anything better than sold to pay a debt trope? I don't think so, and this didn't disappoint! As much as our two lovers hated each other, that is how much they were attracted to each other. As much as they spent time together, they learned the intricacies of the other. Eventually, and against their will, they fell in love. But that didn't give them their happy ending, because other forces, those that brought them together, will pull them apart. Only once they were free, and able to make decisions on their own, did they find the happiness that had eluded them all their lives!

OMFG!!!! What the heck did I just read??!! I thought that Salvatore and Dominic Benedetti (Benedetti Brothers duet 1 & 2) were dark and damaged...but Raphael Amado is that X 1,000!!! He is dead set on extracting revenge for the destruction of his family at the hands of one Marcus Guardia, the man who set into motion the events that not only destroyed his family's winery, but killed his mother! He will stop at NOTHING to avenge the wrongs done to him and his family and the diabolical plan to get even comes in the form of sweet and innocent Sophia Guardia, Marcus's granddaughter! But beware the path of vengeance as it can turn on you in a heartbeat!! Sophia comes home from boarding school at Christmas break only to discover that her Grandfather has sacrificed her as restitution for his disgusting deeds (the depths of which will be revealed!) She has until her 18th birthday in 6 months to enjoy what freedom she has...and then she is to marry Raphael, whom she has met exactly one time! Raphael is the anti-hero of anti-heroes!!! Natasha has brought to life a man who you initially despise, but the underlying pain he feels, his absolute NEED for revenge, his self-hate and complex emotions all come through ....making you almost unwillingly fall for him! At the same time Sophia, sweet and innocent, yet sassy and strong-willed totally and completely captivate you! You will empathize with her untenable situation, you will FEEL her pain and uncertainty, you will totally and completely fall in love with her...her strength, her courage and her loving woman's heart! Will her innocence and her faith be enough to turn things around? Will all the lies, all the secrets revealed destroy BOTH Raphael and Sophia? This book is sooooo dark, sooooo consuming, so complex and evokes ALLLLL the feels!!! If you're looking for something different than the run-of-the-mill romance, something that makes your heart alternately melt, break, beat with fear and anticipation, has some pretty shocking twists and turns, suspense and drama out the ying-yang and some EXCEPTIONALLY HAWT & STEAMY love scenes then THIS is the book for you!! A DEFINITE MUST READ and a TOP read of 2017 for me!! I can't WAIT to get into Disgraced (Damon and Lina's story)!!! It's happening....very soon!

This book was surprisingly exactly what I needed when I read it. It's a little dark, a lot emotional, and really turned my reader brain on its axis. I didn't know who I wanted to love or hate. Sofia and Raphael, both have good traits and bad traits, but that makes them REAL. Tangible. And enabled Natasha Knight to give me a book I reveled in and needed more of. Dishonorable toes the proverbial line for me, but I loved it. Every reader has a line that says: "no, that's too much." It went there, it flirted with going too far (for my comfort zone) but it never really made the leap, and it did all of this while offering up a delectable story that wasn't all hot men with lots of money to swoon over. No, it's Raphael and Sofia fighting for what they don't want, but what they desperately need, and find out they want. That's was wordy, but I hope you followed it. The gist is, Sofia and Raphael were not in each others futures, so they fought this commingling with every fiber of their beings, but when they finally, blissfully, gave in, it was saccharin sweet, and naughty, and dirty, and delicious. Need I go on? I think not. This is my first book of Natasha Knight's and I can positively say that it will not be my last. Sofia and Raphael will be hard to top, but the little glimpses of Lina and Damon's (hopeful) story has completely hooked me and I need it! But for now, I'm going to go re-read a few of these darkly erotic scenes with Raphael and Sofia and wait not so patiently for more from Natasha Knight! Happy Reading! *ARC provided by the author in exchange for an honest review*

???WOW - I seriously had to breathe and wait to cure my book hangover after reading this book. I needed time to sort out my feelings about how I felt about it. I liked this book and hated parts of it at the same time. Sofia, young and naive, is betrayed and used by her Grandfather and Raphael. She is "sold" to Raphael as a bride on her 18th birthday to satisfy "retribution". I enjoyed reading about Sofia's journey from a young, naive, confused girl to an independent woman in love. Raphael still deals with the devastating demons of his past. Perhaps, that is why he seemed crueler than he needed to be at times (my only complaint) and the fact that Sofia continued to let it happen. Sofia believes that Raphael must work through this in order to let go of his past or he will not be able to move forward. Finally, with the help of Sofia's sister and Raphael's brother, they are able to begin to right the wrongs against both families and build new lives for themselves.

I liked this story. It wasn't one of my favorites of Natasha Knight but it was still good.
