Disney's Ten-Minute Crafts for Preschoolers

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Children's Literature
For preschool children who are not familiar with Disney's many animated movies, the references to the Disney characters might be puzzling. Parents will find most of the crafts inventive and child-friendly. Others appear to be contrived for the sole purpose of including another movie reference, however weak. "The Cheshire Cat Sock" on pages 20 and 21 is a slightly altered version of the "Huggable Heimlich Plush" later in the book. The book boasts that "no craft takes longer than ten minutes" from finding the supplies through to clean up. This is somewhat of an exaggerated claim, though they are fairly quick and simple crafts to complete. They also claim that they are catering to the "preschooler with a short attention span." This is not a big selling point for parents who would like their children to learn to enjoy the process of making something on their own. Apart from making the child or parent feel the need to see all the movies mentioned in this book, the crafts occasionally have some interesting ideas and some new twists on old ideas. 2000, Disney, Ages 3 to 6, $14.99.
