Disorder in the Court by Charles M. Sevilla, Lee Lorenz

In America's courtooms, the verdict is laughter.Sit back and enjoy a collection of verbatim exchanges from the halls of justice, where defendants and plaintiffs, lawyers and witnesses, juries and judges, collide to produce memorably insane comedy.A: You mumbled on the first part of that and I couldn't understand what you were saying. Could you repeat the question? Q: I mumbled, did I? Well, we'll just ask the court reporter to read back what I said. She didn't indicate any problem understanding what I said, so obviously she understood every word. We'll just have her read my question back and find out if there was any mumbling going on. Madam reporter, would you be so kind? Court Reporter: Mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble.

The reason for purchasing this book is to send it to my cousin who lives in Switzerland. She is fascinated with American idioms and tricks that words play depending on the way the words are used. The book is not new, but it is ageless and I was pleased it see it is still in print.

I was very disappointed in the book; one of the few books I struggled to get through. So much of it simply was not funny and most of the endings predictable.

Humorous and easy reading. We actually took it on vacation as a "beach read" because they were short, easy to read stories. My husband is a retired police officer and thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.

As a Legal Assistant, I am exposed to the many factes of Law. When this book came across my desk, I could not help but read and keep reading. It speaks and characterizes the courts etc to a tee...superb writing and depth into the more humerous side of the American Justice System. Not to be taken as insult to those lawyers and paralegals and even the assistants..merely a whole new aspect of how we view the system in times of disaray...
