One of Amazon's Best Romances of September & Best Romances of 2017

A 2017 RT Reviewers' Choice Award Nominee for Best Contemporary Love & Laughter

You don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone…

Police academy cadet Charlie Burns can’t believe his luck when the gorgeous blonde he meets in a bar murmurs those magic words: “Nothing serious, ’kay?” Mind-blowing, no-strings sex with Ever Carmichael—it’s the holy grail of hookups for a guy who’s too busy following in his law enforcement family’s footsteps to think about getting serious. Charlie’s all about casual…that is, until Ever calls it quits and his world tilts on its axis.

Ever knows that when you control the relationship game, you can’t get played. But for the first time, she wants more than short-term satisfaction. Step one: end her fling with commitment-phobic Charlie. Step two: sacrifice herself to the ruthless NYC dating scene. Yet everywhere she turns, there’s Charlie, being his ridiculously charming self. No online match or blind date compares to the criminally hot cop-in-training, but they’re over. Aren’t they?

If love is a four-letter-word, why does the idea of Ever seeing someone else tie Charlie up in knots?  Now he’s desperate to win her back…and a little date sabotage never hurt anyone, right?

About the Author

New York Times bestselling author Tessa Bailey is originally from Carlsbad, California. The day after high school graduation, she packed her yearbook, ripped jeans, and laptop, and drove cross-country to New York City in under four days. Her most valuable life experiences were learned thereafter while waitressing at K-Dees, a Manhattan pub owned by her uncle. Inside those four walls, she met her husband, best friend, and discovered the magic of classic rock, managing to put herself through Kingsborough Community College and the English program at Pace University at the same time. Several stunted attempts to enter the work force as a journalist followed, but romance writing continued to demand her attention.

She now lives in Long Island, New York with her husband and daughter. Although she is severely sleep-deprived, she is incredibly happy to be living her dream of writing about people falling in love.

I've heard so much about Tessa Bailey's books, but I wasn't blown away by the one I read, so I decided to give this one a try. I liked Ever and Charlie. They're both similar in so many ways and it was amusing to watch them navigate this non-relationship. I did like Jack and Danica and I'm hoping they each get their own story. Plot wise it got a bit repetitive. Ever and Charlie have excellent chemistry and the UST was all over the place. My main complaint {for lack of a better word} is that when it came time for them to get to know each other as "friends" it felt like we were told, not shown. And that's where the repetitive-ness comes in: there's a lot a lot a lot of push and pull. Overall, it was a quick read focused on a relationship that was easy to root for and a grand gesture that was perfection. The epilogue sets up a few things and I'm eager to see who the next book is for. **Huge thanks to Avon Books for providing the arc free of charge**

Disorderly Conduct is book 1 in the Academy series. This is my first Tessa Bailey book and I can already tell you it will not be my last. I really enjoyed the author's writing style and can't wait to read the next book. Bailey weaved a steaming hot read with lots of conflict that kept my attention. This story revolves around Charlie Burns, a police academy cadet and Ever Carmichael a chef at her catering company. They are at a bar one night and lock eyes and wind up starting a no strings attached fling. Ever has a set of rules to go by, basically being don't stay with a guy longer than a month, don't fall for him, etc. She winds up cutting off the fling with Charlie after a month together and Charlie doesn't exactly want that and I could tell Ever didn't either. The duo decide to stay friends and oh boy some of the scenes made me want to shake either one of them. Neither makes the best decisions but since I'm rooting for them working it out and getting together again it really wound up frustrating me during some of their more major conflicts. Disorderly Conduct is a sexy read you won't want to miss. I really wound up enjoying this book and can't wait to read more of TBailey's work in the near future. I will lay this out there right now, this story isn't going to be for everyone. Charlie wants Ever back as a fling and decides to ruin any dates she winds up going on. He has the right intentions kind of in his head but it does give a somewhat stalker/obsessed vibe at times. Some of the scenes are absolutely hilarious but others do cross a bit of a line and could possibly annoy you. If you're a fan of steamy contemporary romance novels with lots of conflict, you're going to love this book.
