Diva Las Vegas by Stephanie Caffrey

When Las Vegas exotic dancer Raven McShane launches a private detective business, no one takes her seriously. But when a former dancer and good friend needs help solving the town's most notorious murder, Raven joins forces with a built bouncer and a smokin' hot Mormon to uncover the killer's identity. Raven dodges casino thugs, old-money families, and long-buried secrets, all of which lead her down a path that's seedier than the strip in the morning light. If she can stay one step ahead of the killer, she just may prove that this beauty has brains, too.

About the Author

Stephanie Caffrey grew up in Wisconsin and has lived in Chicago, Washington, D.C. and London. Although she has traveled the world, her heart belongs to the thumping, degenerate pulse of a city that is Las Vegas. Having stayed at (or passed out in) nearly every casino-hotel on the Strip, she is recognized as an expert on all-things-Vegas, including where to find the best poker rooms, the most decadent foie gras-topped hamburger, and the most effective cure for a tequila-induced hangover. For a brief period in her early twenties, she may or may not have been a topless dancer. A constitutional lawyer by day, she is married with a young son, who will not be allowed to visit Las Vegas until he's forty.

This came up as a suggested book for me. After reading the description i realized i already read the book under the author name of Caroline Dries. Also have the second book Ring of Fire that they are releasing as Vegas Stripped. I really enjoyed the books and have been waiting for more, but why the change in the authors name? I wish BN would let you know up front that it is a rerelease.

This is one you won’t put down til the last page and then you’ll be waiting impatiently for the next book in this new series. Raven is a lovable stripper turned detective who grabs you with the first paragraph and keeps you turning pages as you watch her character try to solve her biggest case. The author’s descriptions of Vegas are so accurate that reading this book takes you down on the Strip with Raven as she romps through Vegas looking for clues. Hurry up and publish the next book in this series and keep them coming.

Delightful Fun Dectivite Mystery in Las Vegas!! I received an ARC eBook in exchange for an honest review. This is the first book I have read by Stephanie Caffrey and it most certainly won't be my last! This is the first book in her fun new Raven McShane Mysteries series. This book had me laughing out loud at times as well as flipping pages as the suspense was building in her investigation. Her zany sidekicks and the crazy cast of characters made this an hilarious detective mystery that I found difficult to put down. Add the fact that it all takes place on the strip in Las Vegas and it's sure to please a wide audience of readers! Buy this book and read it! It is sure to entertain you!!

Raven McShane is a private detective, and she's also a Las Vegas stripper. An old friend asks her to find proof who killed her husband. She is pulled into a whirlwind of murder and cover ups and literal dead ends that could lead to her being the next victim of she isn't careful. The book is a little slow getting started but once it picks up it is fast paced and exciting. I had my suspicions about who did it and I was sort of right...half right anyway but I was pleasantly surprised about how it all went down. Raven is an interesting character. She is a stripper and her comfort in her own skin is nice to hear. Not many people are that ok with their body, it’s inspiring. There seems to be a lot of man candy around as well. And Raven isn't afraid to acknowledge them either. I just hope she gets herself a man soon. It was a nice cozy mystery. I enjoyed it and I recommend this book to anyone who loves a good sleuthing mystery.

In this very enjoyable mystery that fully exploits the vices, larceny, and insanity of Las Vegas emerges one of the most unique amateur detectives in mystery fiction today. An unapologetic stripper at Cougar’s gentlemen club, Raven is also an aspiring but mostly unemployed new private investigator. When the former star stripper from Cougar’s pleads for Raven’s help in suing the man acquitted for the murder of her husband George Hannity, Raven is unable to reject the assignment even though she is obviously Rachel’s last resort. Eight million dollars in debt, the widowed trophy wife is desperate to escape the drug dealers she’s indebted to, and it just happens that the attorney she consulted is a frequent Cougar’s customer and number one fan of Raven. While Raven has the assistance of Cougar’s lecherous bouncer as a dubious sidekick, she has a more tentative mentorship with the Mormon private investigator Mike Madsen. That he is hot is not in question, but his adherence to his faith certainly can be especially when it comes to their platonic relationship. The fun and originality of this mystery comes from Raven’s rather blasé attitude towards stripping as an occupation and her equal tenancy at detecting. The humor is strong as she relates tales of Cougar’s clients, and she proves to be a surprisingly adept detective. Fast pacing, full exploration of the overindulgences available in Las Vegas and a heroine who completely accepts stripping as a routine job all combine to make this an enjoyable mystery worth a weekend’s reading. - Cindy Chow

If you crossed Kinsey Milhone ( Sue Grafton's books) with Stephanie Plum (Janet Evanovich's), you'd get Raven, the beginner P.I. of this book, who is trying to slowly switch careers from lucrative stripper on the Strip, to successful solver of crime, only with more fashion sense and lots more money than the other two famous characters. The author really knows her locale - if you've been to Vegas recently, you will recognize it. Raven has the sense to bring in good sidekicks who know more than she does - she will need them if she doesn't want to end up dead after stirring up a hornet's nest while trying to help a friend get evidence for a lawsuit. Looking forward to the next book and seeing more of the other characters too.

LOVED IT!!!!!!!! Never expected it to be as good as it was. Who would have thought a stripper/ PI worked, well it did. Then you bring in the club bouncer what a crack up and also her Mormon PI friend now that was a hoot! I really enjoyed this book and will definitely read more of Stephanie's books.
