Krista Davis serves up a delightful read with this faced-paced, fun, and scrumptious first mystery. Between eccentric neighbors, quirky relatives, and a hunky cop who thinks she just might be a killer, domestic diva Sophie Winston definitely has her work cut out for her. And if she doesn¿t figure out who the killer is soon, she might find herself sporting a decidedly unfashionable prison-orange jump suit! I¿m anxiously looking forward to the next book in this mouth-watering series.

The Diva Runs Out of Thyme is book one of the Domestic Diva Mystery series. Sophie Winston is down-to-earth and very likable. She's recently divorced from Mars, who is now dating her high school rival Natasha. The story opens with Sophie preparing Thanksgiving dinner. She makes a last minute run to the store to purchase a few items, when a man approaches her to ask if she wants to adopt a kitten. Sophie has dog and declines, but remains concerned about the welfare of the kitten. When she finishes shopping, she decides to find the man to say she will take the kitten to her friend who will help find the kitten a good home. Sophie discovers the man dead instead. Bodies start to pile up when Sophie finds another dead body at the Stupendous Stuffing Shakedown. The main witness for two deadly crimes, make Sophie the prime suspect in both murders. Sophie has to act quickly to prove her innocence and decides to do some amateur sleuthing and solicits the help of her best friend (and neighbor) Nina. Finding the killer isn't as easy as Sophie thinks. She's also distracted by the neighborhood's Peeping Tom and her's sister's upcoming wedding. Hannah recently introduced Craig to the family and Sophie thinks he's, well, a bit. . .off! What exactly is he hiding? And how well does Hannah know him? As Sophie gets more and more involved in solving the crimes, she thinks Natasha may not be so innocent. Is Natasha the killer? And why is someone following her? Sophie is determined to find out and host her family's Thanksgiving dinner. The Diva Runs Out of Thyme is a great start to what appears to be a promising new series.

Read this book and the next in the series "The Diva Takes The Cake" back to back. Really enjoyed both of them. Loved the main characters and their different approaches to catering and the "Martha Stewart" like character is really a hoot. The mystery in both books was clever and I did not figure it out until they revealed it.

This is one of my favorite cozy mystery series. Mix in the holidays, a cooking competition, zany family characters and a murder or two and you have a great first book in a fantastic series. It is fast-paced, fun and full of quirky characters. Sophie Winston is funny and intelligent. I loved the swirl of activity intermixed in the plot. Added to the mix is Natasha, Sophie's childhood rival. She is irritating yet likeable and married to Sophie's ex-husband. This is a great cozy mystery with a well developed plot and plenty of fun characters. I have read the second book in this series which is just as good!

Loved the colorful characters, the meals thrown together and the suspense throughout the book.

One problem or disaster follows another in this Thanksgiving tale, making all my past "disasters" seem less so. I found myself turning off the television and staying up late to read . . . and under the influence of Sophie's hospitality, cooking a bit more creatively. Good food, suspense, and quirky characters who, despite disagreements, stick up for each other. Wonderful! This is the first in the series, so many more to look forward to.

I wasn't sure about this book just from reading the back. Once I decided to give it a try, I was surprisingly hook! There are a handful of characters but they weren't hand to keep track of. I'm a fan of the Diva series!

Sophie Finds Herself in a Thanksgiving Mess It’s shaping up to be a busy Thanksgiving for Sophie Winston. She’s hosting her family for the holiday as well as participating in a stuffing contest against, among others, her high school rival Natasha Smith. While Sophie now works as a caterer, Natasha has gone on to make a name for herself as the authority of all things domestic, and her website and TV show are watched by legions of local fans. Making it more personal, Sophie’s ex-husband, Mars, is now dating Natasha. So Sophie really wants to win this contest. However, the day before the contest, Sophie’s grocery run ends when she finds a dead body in the dumpster behind the store. She’d met the guy on the way in to the store, but the police start looking at her as a suspect because the victim had Sophie’s picture in his car. When Sophie stumbles upon another dead body, she realizes she needs to act fast before the police pin both murders on her. I’ve long heard of this series, but I finally getting around to trying it. It is easy to see why it is so popular. The characters are delightful and well developed, and I already love many of them. The plot started out strong with plenty of twists and clues. I did feel the pacing slowed down some in the middle, but it ramped up again for the great climax. Add in a few dashes of humor, and you’ve got a winner. I don’t need another long running series to attempt to catch up on, but I believe that is exactly what I have now added. Hopefully, I will find the time to catch Sophie’s second adventure soon.

I enjoy Krista Davis' writing. I first discovered her knack with mystery when I read MURDER SHE BARKED. I also read the next book in that series. While waiting for the third book in that series, I began this Diva series. Her writing contains enough humor for some lightness while keeping the reader guessing "who done it".

1.5 stars. The title was more intersting than the book it self. The story was dull ,far fetched & all over the place. The characters were bland & one dimenesional. Before it has never taken me 3 weeks to finish a book.

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and Sophie is preparing to host her family for dinner, as well as participate in a stuffing baking contest. Off to the store for her groceries, she has an encounter with a strange man who wants her to adopt an unwanted kitten.  Sophie's mind is on the impending events, so she refuses the adorable kitty, but has a change of heart in the store.  When she leaves, she searches out the man and his kitty.  Fortunately, she finds the kitty in it's box, but unfortunate she also finds the man, dead, in the dumpster!! Problems multiply from here on out!!  Sophie's parents have added a few guests to her dinner list, Sophie's ex husband and his new girlfriend, Natasha amongst them.  Sophie and Natasha had been childhood girlfriends, but competition between them for everything in their lives caused a real split.  Natasha runs an advice column for super-perfection 'hostess with the mostess' answers to fan's mail.  She was also competing with Sophie in the upcoming stuffing competition. A few other unusual people are added to the guest list too.  But the final addition is the handsome Detective Wolf, who seems to have Sophie at the top of his murder suspect list.   Each chapter is headed by a question to either Natasha or Sophie.  The answers alone would sell this book for me.  The mystery, humor, and romance is enhanced with recipes for all us 'foodie' readers.  Fortunately, this is a winning first book in Krista Davis' Diva series.  Can't wait to get my teeth into the next few books she's already 'cooked up' for her readers.  Not to be missed for cozy foodie readers!!

I love this series. It is a well crafted mystery, with some nice jabs at the Martha Stewart wanna-bes. I highly recommend it. Lots of fun, and great characters.
