Overview

On his 77th album, Divorcio, veteran crooner Julio Iglesias sounds happy enough. The 60-year-old heartthrob ushers in the album with rhythms borrowed from his adopted home, the Dominican Republic. Don't expect any hard-charging merengue, though: A lilting accordion and slinky rhythms wend their way through this soft-focus collection. The single, the Mexican classic "Corazón de Papel," gets a mariachi treatment from Iglesias, who is quick to tell press that he is "very happy" with his wife Miranda Rijnsburger, who has borne the Spanish phenomenon four children since 1997. As he told the Mexican wire service Notimex, "It's a great privilege, I've been blessed with a second chance," he stated as he recalled that "I really didn't get to see my oldest children grow up" since his work prevented him from spending time at home. It's a situation likely to change as the star hits the road to promote this album two years in the making.
