What People are Saying About This
"This is one of the most remarkable books about dogs that I have ever read. The author provides a beautifully written, compassionate and scholarly study of the origins of many dog breeds or races, some as endangered today as the people with whom they have co-evolved over millennia."
Veterinarian, ethologist, and author of Understanding Your Dog and The Soul of the Wolf
Most Helpful Customer Reviews
This book has highly detailed and very accurate information on several dogs breeds, most unknown to the average dog owner. This book is not a good idea for the beginning dog owner, and not for most dog people. The breeds include Azawakh, Sloughi, i-Bahku, Coton de Tulear, and Basenji, but there are several other breeds as well. A lot of people would find this dry, dull, and not worth the money, but I find it fascinating and very very informative. I recommend it to rare breed owners, sighthound owners, and those who want information on breeds unknown in the US.
