Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
There is much to wonder in the everyday lives of children, which is captured wonderfully by Sarah Garland. Well illustrated and represents very real families in their busy noisy, muddled but lovelable and endearing lives. The simple sentences and familiar phrases correlate directly with the text making them ideal reading for emergent readers.
Children's Literature - Ken Marantz and Sylvia Marantz
As with other books in her series like Having a Picnic, Garland includes only the briefest, simplest text in large print amplified by the naturalistic double-page ink and watercolor illustrations to tell the story of a busy mother doing the laundry. Accompanied by her mischievous young toddler and the dog, she collects the dirty clothes, puts them in the washer, and then hangs them on a rack and on a line in the garden to dry. Big sister arrives in time for a drink and a book. Loving actions are clear; mother smiles as the red-pajama-clad youngster offers a wet sock, even as the dog adds another on his nose. The kitchen clutter demonstrates the life style of this typical family. The end pages are part of the visual story. Some readers may be shocked, however, at one scene of the little boy without his pants. Reviewer: Ken Marantz and Sylvia Marantz
