A wonderful selection for all dog lovers, whether you have the perfect pet or a challenging canine. Randy Grim tackles dog behavior issues for which you may be uncomfortable asking for help. With wit and wisdom he addresses everything from separation anxiety to canine escape artists. Among the funny tales he tells are simple solutions to vexing problems. An entertaining and informative read!

I read Travels With Casey in which the author goes on a cross-country journey with his dog and in the book he joined this author in catching stray dogs. You see this author's view of himself as well as the othee author. Both are great books. Worth reading even if you would never dump your dog. I have a feeling doglovers are the greater demographic to read this book anyway.

Excellent! Having worked in a shelter & for a vet, I've heard many similar excuses as to why a family, or individual just can't keep their dog any longer. Grim tackles all the most common problems with excellent examples of overcoming behavioral & training issues. It's unfortunate that a great many dumpers will never read this book (their reasons are legitimate, their obstacles insurmountable, their dogs untrainable ... never would the issue lie with the dumper her/himself). But even if the dumpers don't read this book, you should - you may know a future dumper & you may help save a life if you're able to pass on a bit of Grim's wisdom. At the very least, you'll get an idea of the overwhelming odds the staff of your local shelter deal with every day. Maybe you'll decide to volunteer, donate, or give a dumped dog a chance at a better life by fostering or adopting!
