Posted by Steph B. at The Romance Studio Score: 4 1/2 hearts AJ Dawson, Sophie Sinora, and Krysta Richards are not your typical teenagers but they want everyone to believe they are. These three girls became friends years ago when they discovered that they had something in common. Each of them has a special ¿talent¿ that if other kids know about it they would be considered freaks so the girls banned together for support and promised to never tell. AJ gift is prophetic dreams and they always come true. Her latest dream predicts the death of her brother. Can she get her mother who always thinks Mike is perfect and never acknowledges AJ¿s successes to believe her? I enjoyed the story of Don¿t Tell Mother, the second book of the Whispers series. AJ and her friends have normal teenage problems with friends, boyfriends, studies, and parents but they also live life with a twist. AJ has a terrible dilemma to face, how can she convince her mother that she is telling the truth and save her brother¿s life? She also has to deal with what is a ¿normal¿ teenager and does she really want to be normal? In this tale, Ms. West really brings home the point that normal is subjective and not the same for everyone. This story like the first book of the series is appropriate for teenage girls. I don¿t think boys would enjoy it as much. If you like young adult fiction filled with all the angst of the teenage years, you won¿t be disappointed in this book!

This is the second installment in Tara West's Whispers series. The story focuses on A.J. and how she handles life while dealing with her special gift. We all remember that being a teenager is terribly hard, but being a "gifted" teenager (like the trio of BFF's in the story) is even worse! Add to that equation a family that "doesn't get" you, a horrid new basketball coach, and boyfriend troubles, and you get a clear picture of what A.J. is going through! I am enjoying reading this series. I appreciate that the author writes the story in the voice of the teenager, but does not try to water it down. She did an excellent job touching on topics such as family dynamics, first loves, and not changing who you are just to please others. These topics resonate not only with teens, but with adults as well!

A.J.has a paranormal ability and it is a doozy! she can see the future. Trouble with a mom who she fights with at every turn, annoying older brother who can do no wrong, a strange (to her family and friends) boyfriend, a vision she's in a race against time to prevent and two best friends who will stay by her side no matter what!! Has ALL the ingredients of a GREAT adventure!!!!! This is a MUST read!!!!!! Could not put down!!!
