Twelve year old Zoe Lexham disappears while on a family trip to the Middle East. She spent years in a harem after her father foolishly took the family on a tour of the dangerous Eastern Mediterranean and was abducted in Egypt; there she learned to speak openly and honestly about sex. When she finds her way home in 1818, Zoe knows she has no prospects for marriage; being too old and worse ultra scandalous. Lord Lucien de Grey may be a shallow rake, but as a Duke with money he can go anywhere in the Beau Monde and thus he could help his childhood friend become accepted by those in Polite Society. However, Lucien is attracted to Zoe and though she reciprocates, she fears his reaction to learning what happened to her years ago even as the danger that exiled her has returned to complete the job. DON'T TEMPT ME is an enjoyable Regency romance starring two fascinating lead protagonists. The roguish Lucien learned never become deeply attached to anyone especially avoiding love and passion when his parents died when he was ten years old; he knows love hurts. Zoe realizes that scandal is her rightful name having spent years in a harem and learned (by osmosis) about sex; ironically the men want her because she is beautiful and assumed to be an expert in the boudoir, but has a secret that would stun any who ever found out though none except her beloved stand a chance. Fans will enjoy Lucien's chase of Zoe whose reputation is to bolt into trouble. Harriet Klausner

Twelve years ago Zoe Octavia Lexham was kidnapped while with her parents in Egypt. Now having escaped the haram she back with her family. After many young women claimed to be Zoe Lexham, the Duke of Marchmont, Lucien de Gray, is going to check her out. Zoe is surrounded by her family, Lucien knows just by looking at her the this is the little girl who terrorized him as a boy. Now it's his job to make her popular. It's hard, because Zoe now knows things that a proper young lady of twenty four shouldn't know. I loved this book and couldn't put it down. I loved the plot and all the characters. I knew right off that Zoe and Lucian were meant for eachother, when she turned into a she devil after he said something about her.

I love Loretta Chase, she has written a couple of my all time favorite rereads. So it's with some sadness that I confess that I just didn't like Don't Tempt Me. It wasn't that I didn't like the lovers, Lucien de Grey, the Duke of Marchmont and Lady Zoe Lexham but I just didn't buy the scenario. I didn't believe the adult Zoe had had the experiences she was meant to. And of course, why was she a virgin? That just didn't make sense. I liked the courtesan story line in Your Scandalous Ways much better, I found the situation and heroine more congruent. This was a pleasant way to spend a few hours, but it won't linger and I won't reread. Really disappointing from an author I love. But Chases misses are a hundred times better than many others hits, so it's worth reading, but not keeping...

Oh My Goodness!! I LOVED this book. I thought I'd come out right off the bat and let everyone know this. This book has it all!Lucien, after seeing everyone he loved die in his youth, the final straw being Zoe's disappearance, has decided that he won't feel anything. He's lost too much and as a result has become cold and aloof, a master of whit and everything one would detest in a hero. But the reader knows that's not his real character. He is dragged kicking back into feeling when Zoe returns to the bosom of her family and needs help in becoming a part of society again. He's wildly attracted to her and her innocent yet very seductive ways. And Zoe - what a wonderful character she is!! She's a mix of innocence and sensuality. She knows what she wants - Lucien - and goes after him even though she's not quite sure she is ready to head back into a cage of 'marriage' after living so long in a harem. There were many moments in this book that had me smiling and chuckling and when I close the cover, I couldn't help but think "Well Done Ms. Chase!!" While not quite up to the same level as my all time favourite by her, Lord of Scoundrels, this one comes very, very close! This one gets a real thumbs up from this satisfied reader!

It's a Romance - a highly entertaining, suspend-disbelief, Hot romance. Loretta Chase is one of the few romance authors who seldom, if ever, disappoints. And she's hit it out of the park with this one. Very briefly, the initial premise is unbelievable, so the reader must begin by taking a big breath and just going along with the plot - Zoe Lexham - blond, beautiful, spunky, and the daughter of an English peer - has escaped from the harem where she was held captive for twelve years - and is returned to the bosom of her excitable family. The question then arises of how to re-introduce 'the harem girl' into English society and secure a suitable marriage. Enter Lucien deGrey, the Duke of Marchmont, and the answer to any clever maiden's prayer. Lucien is charming, sexy, and has the romance hero's requisite hidden sadness. All the elements of a successful romance are here: chemistry, humor, witty repartee, suspense in a minor key. If you are looking for the latest Orange Prize nominees, don't look on the romance shelf. Romance novels are the banana splits of the book world - made to formula, not especially nourishing, and - when done well -addicting. So just throw your reservations to the winds and let Chase entertain you on a hot summer's day at the beach or warm you up on a cold winter's night before the fire. But read and enjoy 'Don't Tempt Me'! As we say in Alabama, it's a HOOT!

Zoe Olivia is a baron's daughter who was kidnapped at 12. Now she is 24, and has returned to London--miraculously still a virgin, although no one believes that. Her childhood friend Lucian, now a duke, undertakes to make her acceptable to Society, despite her notoriety. Not one of Chase's very best books--that would be several of her Carsington series--but quite enjoyable.
