Overview

Isolde McLaine left Hatherly Hall and its darkly handsome owner Angus Shaw to escape her incubus father's curse. But when word reaches her that Angus is selling the piece of British history, she returns to talk sense into him. Little does she realized that returning to England will throw her into her sire's vile world and leave her fighting not just her heart and the danger of falling in love but battling to save Angus's son's life.

For three and a half months, Angus has done his best to put Isolde and the one unforgettable kiss they shared behind him. Yet when she returns, scolding him for selling his deceased wife's estate, he's sharply reminded of the passion she awakens inside him. Yet as Isolde pushes for him to leave his son's legacy intact, their battle of wills provokes far more than just desire. His son's nightmares have returned. And Isolde triggered the hellish dreams.

Torn between protecting his child and the love he feels for Isolde, Angus must find the strength to trust in Isolde before her demonic sire claims his son.

Reviewed by Andrea Book provided by the publisher for review Review originally posted at Romancing the Book Isolde and Angus shared a mind blowing kiss, causing Isolde to leave Hatherly Hall. Her father is an incubus and she has been cursed, doomed to never fall in love. And she is quickly falling for Angus. Angus is a man who loved and lost. His wife fell into the river and left him a single parent. Unable to handle his son being near the same water that killed his wife, he makes plans to send his son to the best boarding school in England and sell off his estate and leaving Hatherly Hall. Isolde gets word and she comes back, despite the fear of losing her heart. And losing Angus to her curse. Angus is a man who breaks your heart. You can imagine how he feels…trying to be a father to his son while mourning his wife’s death. Then in comes a lady he can’t deny and he feels guilty. He tries to do the right thing for his family but ends up just pushing his son away. I found myself rooting for him because he deserves a little bit of happiness. Isolde is a strong, feisty woman. She knows what she wants but knows that falling for Angus means death and that she won’t deal with. But love can’t be denied and that creates all sorts of issues. Isolde’s father is evil and is looking to come back into power and that moves Isolde to give the ultimate sacrifice. Read this book and get invested in the series. Claire Ashgrove is an author who brings characters to life and you almost forget that they are fiction.
