This book really opened my eyes. Until I read this book I had never heard of Dorothy Dandrige. I felt that Earl Mills gave us wonderfull insight into who she really was.

....But I know it will be good. Dorothy lived a terribly short life, and did her best to obtain it. She was delicate, yet gracefull, and beautiful in every way. To me, she is and inpiration, seeing as how I am a young black lady, and it means a lot to me; learning about the greats, such as Dorothy Dandridge, Duke Ellington, etc. because of what they did, and who they were. Though she was taken advantage of, she still managed it as well as she could, and that really makes me proud. I am proud and happy to know about her, and I hope one day soon, so will the rest of the world.
