I was super excited to see this book on Netgalley.  I recently read Double Whammy and Double Dip, books 1 & 2 in the Davis Way series and absolutely loved them. Davis Way is this unique character in a unique job.  Because she works undercover security for the casino, she is constantly doing different jobs, donning disguises and getting into all kinds of strange predicaments. Double disasters strikes on the day before Davis and Bradley Cole are to be married. They have the families gathered, but a storm hits the Gulf Coast and there is damage to the Sander's residence and all of Bianca's things. Oh yeah, and it turns out that Davis and her ex-ex husband aren't so ex.  With a brand new Super Sweepstakes event happening, Bianca on the war path, and divorce papers to be corrected, Davis has her hands full.   As is typical with these books, there is so much more going on than what is on the surface. There are conspiracies within plots within plans within scams and what you thought was going on is just the tip of the iceberg. Thankfully Davis is just cagey and canny enough to get to the bottom of it. All the favorites secondary characters are back and even a few new ones are added in.  Now normally I am not big on a cliffhanger, but this one ended with a shocking announcement that will have me keeping my eye out for the next installment. Loved this - 5 stars.

Once again, Gretchen Archer pens a fast moving mystery with Davis Way still undercover for the Bellissimo Casino. This book was once again full of humor, almost slapstick. Davis aka David, is still acting as a double for Bianca Saunders and in this story, she gets Bianca in some situations that hit the press. Of course keeping Bianca from finding out what has happened is a job in itself. When there is a fire at the Bellisimo on the day of Davis and Bradley's wedding, the plans go awry. Add in the fact that her divorce to her ex-ex was never finalized and Davis is in some hot water. The "Strike it Rich Game" is where she is supposed to be concentrating her attention, but there is just way too much other stuff going on. Davis Way and her associates are becoming more developed and we are seeing other sides to them to make them real to us. Everyone is a person with motivation, a back story, and a unique personality. Even the “bad guys” are complicated. I love how they put together the motivation and the plans of the bad guys so that we can actually believe the story could have happened. The interpersonal relationships are also filling out. Bradley Cole now works with Davis, at the same casino. He is the manager now, so he sees what she is doing and is there to help. I really enjoyed this book. The characters, the intricacies of the plot, the humor, the unexpected happenings and the relationships all mesh together to create an enjoyable series. Ms. Archer’s descriptions of southern culture are wonderful. I doubt they will make her popular in Alabama, but it’s some of the best, snarky, sharp, intelligent descriptive writing of a place and its culture I’ve ever read. I found myself reading sections out loud to my son, who laughed along with me. Gretchen Archer is a great author to enjoy with each book in the series better than the last. I definitely recommend this one.

This book definitely gives you more of a peek into Davis's personal life. Poor Davis is going crazy in this one! Casino life and trying to plan a marriage will make anyone crazy... especially with Bianca on the war path all the time too! But as always, her crazy casino family keeps it interesting!

LAUGH OUT LOUD FUN! Gretchen Archer has found the winning combination with her Davis Way Crime Capers. Double Strike certainly grabs your attention from page one and keeps it until you read the very last word! I read this book this afternoon and I confess, I'm completely worn out after trying to keep up with Davis & her coworkers at the beautiful Bellissimo Resort and Casino as they work to solve someone trying to beat the system in yet another huge gambling event. Archer has brought back all our favorite characters -- Bradley Cole (Davis' long suffering fiancé), her parents, her grandmother, her ex, ex husband, her ex, ex mother-in-law, coworkers Fantasy and No Hair, her boss Richard Sanders and is desperately-in-need-of-a-personality-transplant wife, Bianca. Newcomers are the Sanders son who has been off at boarding school, a new coworker named Baylor, Bradley Cole' Mother, a whole new "Strike Team" to run the new event and last but definitely not least the gamers themselves, particularly the Christmas Tree Farmers from Ft. Payne, AL. Archer consistently paints her characters as vividly as can be described. When she writes these zany characters carrying out these scenes it's as though you can see the movie playing in front of you! This book is fast paced and you won't want to stop reading because you have to know what could possibly happen next. Such a great series. Gretchen Archer, please, please write lots more Davis Way books!

Finished reading Double Strike yesterday; would have read in one day but got sleepy. It's as great and funny as the others. For those unfamiliar with Alabama (¿#‎Alabamaian¿) (¿#‎LiveInMadisonCounty¿), the places mentioned in the book are real (¿#‎Businesses¿/Cities/Roads). Yes, we do have places named LickSkillet and Pine Apple. Regarding beginning of Chapter 17, although I would love to say all the descriptions are hyperbolized, they are not; however, I can say there are some exaggerations. (¿#‎GretchenIsTennessean¿) I would like to correct one thing about Alabamaians, they (¿#‎NotMe¿) are extremist for SEC football not just football; sadly, they are extremist extremist in this regard. Another extremist sport of Alabamaians (¿#‎AgainNotMe¿) is NASCAR, second only to SEC football. I will forgive Gretchen for the hyperbole, exaggerations and omissions, because she is (¿#‎Unfortunately¿) from Tennessee. Just kidding, Gretchen. (#Maybe)

Davis Way has enough on her plate right now: a future mother-in-law who doesn’t think Davis is good enough for her son; her mother, who hates the future mother-in-law for giving her baby girl a hard time, and her father, who is trying to keep a low profile by hiding behind his newspaper. Her fun-loving grandmother has decided to divorce her latest husband over a dog…oh, and she can’t get a marriage license because she’s still technically married to her rattlesnake of an ex-ex-husband (ok, so she had married him twice, don’t hold it against her). And that’s just her personal life. Her job at the Bellissimo Resort and Casino is about to get interesting again. The new casino manager, Levi Newman, has brought in his own people, and they are preparing for a Strike it Rich tournament in a remodeled area of the Bellissimo, but he wasn’t letting any of the regular casino staff into the new area. They go undercover: her partner, Fantasy, ends up as a waitress, and Davis is the assistant social media director for the tournament. A disastrous trip with Baylor, another Bellissimo security man, ends with them getting shot at on what they think is the Christmas tree farm of two Strike it Rich players. But the trees are hiding a dark secret, and it almost gets Davis and Baylor killed. The death of an undercover federal agent brings the Feds into their investigation of the tournament, and they are given a few days to find out who’s behind the tournament before the Feds are taking over. It doesn’t help matters that Davis has to deal with Bianca Sanders, the wife of the owner, and the sudden appearance of the Sanders’ son, Thomas, further complicates things, especially when he gets expelled from his private school for dealing pot. With all these things going on, it’s a wonder Davis doesn’t go crazy. It’s bad enough that she loses most of her hair when it catches fire (Bianca’s fault, totally), or that she has ticked off the lawyer who handled her divorce by stealing his car. And making a deal with the devil, in a manner of speaking, brings her more trouble than she expected. But when Bianca is kidnapped by the tournament mastermind, Davis turns to someone she never thought she’d have to deal with to save her life. Will Davis and the Bellissimo crew be able to figure out what is going on before they all end up wearing orange jumpsuits? And will Davis ever be able to marry the love of her life, Bradley Cole? Double Strike is the third installment in the Davis Way adventures, and it is the best one by far. It was a good thing I was home alone when I read this, because I was alternating between laughing out loud and gasping in horror. Colorful characters with a casino for a backdrop, well-written with plenty of twists and turns, you will enjoy this book as much as I did. Two thumbs up! I can’t wait for the next one!! (I was given an ARC for an honest review)

Gretchen Archer’s third installment in the Davis Way Crime Capers, Double Strike, is a trifecta of awesomeness. Edge of your seat excitement with plot twists that keeps you turning pages through the night. The perfect amount of humor and heart to make you smile. And the coolest cast of characters ever.  Ms. Archer’s writing is tight and has such a palpable energy to it. You get swept up in the Gulf storms and transported into Davis Way’s insanely awesome life.  If not for a bad eye inflammation, I’d have polished this off in a night or two. I can’t wait for the next one! I laughed, I bit my lip, and I squealed with delight. Thanks for an amazing follow up to the last one!  #greatplotting #addictivewriting #Ilove@davisway #swoonworthyboyfriend #brilliantcriminalcaper #casinogamingatitsbest  #beton@gretchenarcher

Great Book!! This was a great book! This book is part three in the Davis Way series, it can be read as a standalone but if you read the other books in the series you would know the characters a little better. Davis Way is a super spy for the Bellissimo Resort and Casino, she also works as a double for the owner’s spoiled wife when needed.  Davis and her team are preparing for a high stakes event that is being held at the casino. Davis is also getting ready for her wedding to Bradley Cole, however right before the wedding they have to cancel the wedding because their license was denied because she is still married. Davis must find a way to make sure she divorces her ex-ex husband Eddie, this time for the last time so she and Bradley can get married. To make matters worse there is a murder at the Bellissimo, which she needs to solve. This book has it all romance, humor, and mystery. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.  A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
