Down Cellar

The plumber finds a stairway that “doesn’t belong” in a Victorian House and a tunnel that leads somewhere off property. He discovers his soft-spoken genealogist friend has some powerful political connections. The local gossip columnist is keeping secrets that she can’t remember and they are literally driving her crazy. And then an arsonist comes to town in his red truck!

Jim Worthington is a plumber/handyman with a past. John Green is his best friend with powerful but mysterious political connections. Soon after Jim finds a hidden room in John’s basement, someone burns Jim’s barn down. Then, one after another, he loses his house, his pets, his truck and his reputation. With his girlfriend in a coma and his best friend suggesting he turn himself into the police, Jim has to find out who is out to ruin him—and more importantly why?—before he loses the one thing he has to left: his life!

About the Author

Gordon De Land grew up in Madison County, Central New York State. Due to his father’s job change, his isolated rural upbringing was interrupted by a year outside of Seattle in Washington State. The results were eye-opening and the desire for new places and people has never left. He eventually joined the Navy and saw more of the world. He helped raise four excellent children while living in Honolulu, San Diego, Chicago, Dallas, as well as ‘back home’ in Central New York State. He presently lives and writes in Chicago.
