The soundtrack to Eddie Murphy's June 2001 sequel, Dr. Dolittle 2, is chock full of feel-good R&B and blazing hip-hop. The Product G&B (first heard on Santana's "Maria, Maria") start the party right with the catchy chorus and bass-heavy romp "Cluck Cluck," which features their mentor, Wyclef Jean. On the next track, "Do U Wanna Roll (Dolittle Theme)" -- a funk-drenched, neck-snapping groove with guest appearances by Snoop Dogg, Lil' Kim, and R.L. of Next -- Snoop offers his recipe for fun in the sun: "three bottles of Mo" and "dope models fa sho." The remainder of the disc is a mix of heart-fluttering ballads, such as O-Town's poignant "We Fit Together" and Luther Vandross's dramatic "If I Was One," and groovy neo-soul tracks like Alicia Keys's spicy, Latin-tinged "Rear View Mirror" and Angie Stone's breezy "Makin' Me Feel." As an album, Dr. Doolittle 2 holds together surprisingly well -- even "Life Is Good," the unlikely pairing of pop pretty boys LFO and hip-hop headbangers M.O.P., turns out to be a winner.
