Overview

Clive Cussler, author of over twenty consecutive New York Times bestsellers, brings back beloved hero Dirk Pitt in this electrifying, edge-of-your-seat thriller.

Japan, 1945: Two US bombers take off with atomic bombs. Only one gets through.

The Pacific, 1993: A Japanese cargo ship bound for the United States is instantly, thunderously vaporized, taking with it a Norwegian vessel. Japanese fanatics have developed a chilling plan to devastate and destroy the Western powers. From the ocean depths to the discovery of cache of lost Nazi loot, Dirk Pitt is untangling a savage conspiracy and igniting a daring counterattack. While Washington bureaucrats scramble, a brutal industrialist commands his blackmail scheme from a secret island control center. And Dirk, the dauntless hero of Sahara and Inca Gold, is taking on death-dealing robots and a human-hunting descendant of samurai warriors. Pitt alone controls the West’s secret ace in the hole: a tidal wave of destruction waiting to be triggered on the ocean floor!

Another great Dirk Pitt adventure that pulls you in with almost non-stop action and adventure. I say almost because towards the end I felt it lag just a tiny bit and the ending disappointed slightly. Otherwise a great thrill read! That Dirk Pitt can do anything!

Dirk Pitt comes through once again, this time in even more incredible circumstances. I'm all for suspended disbelief, but I really had to suspend this time. Dirk is certainly unbeatable when it comes to stamina, witt, and strength!

To be honest, I don't believe this review will help anyone who is contemplating reading this title. Regardless, I chose to review this book because of what it has done for me already. I am about 140 pages into this book and so far I am very intrigued and find it to be a smooth read. Since I am still near the beginning of this book, my review won't hold any weight, but I am giving it a five star regardless because it was recommended to me from my father.  My father and I do not have the closest relationship. Whenever I have a chance to relate an experience with him, I take it. That is why this book deserves a place on my shelf. Without it, my father and I may not be talking right now....Thank you

This book has the usual mix of action, adventure, mystery and suspense that you would expect. But it has an added mix of humor and over the top suspense with great writing that will make you feel in the story. The characters have great personality and are well developed. The best action book I have read in years. Cussler went the extra yard with this one.
