DragonQuest (DragonKeeper Chronicles #2) by Donita K. Paul

A New Quest Begins

A dragonkeeper of Paladin, Kale is summoned from the Hall to The Bogs by the Wizard Fenworth to serve as his apprentice and tend his newly hatched meech dragon, Regidor. But Kale isn’t going alone. The Hall is sending a student to monitor her performance and report back to the scholars. Worst of all, it’s Bardon–an older boy Kale finds irritating, but who at least can hold his own in a sword fight.

New Friendships Are Forged

Meanwhile, the Wizard Risto has seized another meech dragon, bringing him dangerously close to gaining the power he seeks. So with only a motley band of companions, Kale sets out on a desperate quest to rescue the second meech, to free those dragons already enslaved, and to thwart Risto’s devious plans. It’s up to Kale to lead the search and to embrace the role that’s rightfully hers. But will her efforts be enough to save the land of Amara from the dark future that awaits at Risto’s hands?

Dragon Quest might seem like just another run of the mill adventure book. But if you go deeply enough, you will see that there are legs to it. The story starts out with a girl named Kale(the main character) and her friend Dar traveling through a market. Soon she encounters a poor orphan girl of some race that is furry and the adventure begins. All the creatures and things that are mentioned in the book can seem a little confusing but there is a dictionary in the back. It seems a little slow at first but then after a short time the pace picks up dramatically. The characters in the book are very interesting and the author does a fantastic job in creating them. They all have distinct personalities and opinions. The story is deep often making you think twice about what you read. I found myself reading the same paragraph over to make sure I was interpreting it the right way. At points you also get the satisfaction of seeing the bad guy get what he deserves. Overall this a fantastic book for any Fantasy lover.

A wonderful second edition to the Dragon Keeper Chronicles. Follow Kale again as she learns more about herself, and more about her parents. Meet new characters and new dragons, and enjoy the adventure!

This book was amazing. After the ending to the previous book I really wanted to read this. It was amazing with yet another cool ending. Kale's talent grows...and gets a cooler and better dragon. Read it.

The books were fun and I love anything to do with dragons, fairies, == anything to do with fantasy and this whole series filed my cup. Would love to see more series like this. I liked reading them and I am 52. I passed them on to a young friend of mine that is 11 or 12. I felt they were safe for him to read because everything within the book was on the up and up. Fun books - loved them.

I love Donita K Paul. She does a great job at telling a great story in the Tolkien-style. A quest with highs and lows and a not so perfect main character. Kale, the main character, is someone anyone can relate to. The inner doubts and demons to the naivety of the unknown and hard to shake ideals that almost every person is born into.

This is a Christian fantasy sequel to DragonSpell. Set in the mythical land of Amara, Kale Allerion has a new quest. She is summoned from her training at the Hall to help train the meech dragon. From there she embarks on a quest involving the evil wizard Risto, good comrades, laughter, dragons, and Kale's long-lost mother. I highly recommend this series to children, girls especially, ages 11-16. It is well-written and hilariously funny with memorable characters and Christian messages.

Kale and Dar have recently been accepted at The Hall, where they plan to learn more about Paladin and his ways. But after Kale rescues a young doneel named Toopka and the city of Vendela is attacked by giant poisonous spiders, she and her friends are thrown into another adventure. This time, they must rescue Kale's mother from Risto, find another meech dragon, and find out why all the dragons are joining Risto. Kale uncovers secrets about her past, as well as her new friend, Bardon's. There are many new characters, all delightful and interesting. I really liked this book. It is a great read for all fantasy lovers of all ages. Donita K. Paul is a wonderful storyteller and I can't wait to read her next book!
