Dragon's Heart (Pit Dragon Chronicles Series #4) by Jane Yolen

Austar IV isn't the planet it once was, and when Jakkin and Akki finally return to the dragon nursery, their homecoming arouses mixed emotions. Together they've survived the insurmountable, and now they can weather the brutal conditions of Dark After and communicate with the dragons they love. But with this knowledge comes responsibility. What they've learned about survival could transform the planet—or, if entrusted to the wrong hands, bring about its destruction. Akki's insistence that she return to the Rokk to finish her training and begin new experiments drives a chasm between her and Jakkin. Suddenly she finds herself in the midst of a political battle that could claim her life. Only Jakkin can save her. If only he could reach her. . . .

Yolen pulls all the disparate threads together to make a satisfying enough ending to her series. Somehow, the emotional connection between the characters is not as intense as it has been, but the plot works.

This book was unbelievablily good. It feeled in all the gap that the other three books left out and wraped them up. The only bad thing I can think of this book is the ending was so sudden, what I mean is in the other three books there was a cliff hanging ending that made you want more, but in this one it just ends, it almost took me a couple of minutes to relieze that the book ended. Ya, this is one of the best series and books I have read in a real long time, so is worth every penny of the cost to buy the book if you need some easy read with lots of adventure.

I loved the book, all the way until the end. it took me a minute to realize that, that was the end. no cliff hanger leading to the next book. it was just the end. i felt like Jane ran out ideas and decided to write a quick happy ending and then put it on the shelf. Don't get me wrong, i love this book, and the series. but this one wasn't nearly as good as the others.

After more than 20 years of waiting, Jane Yolan has finally added to her Pit Dragon series. The fourth installment of the saga of Jakkin and Akki has you sitting on the edge of your seats as they face further political difficulties at the hands of closet rebels and selfish politicians. The book is a quick, but good read!
