In the summer of 1957, twelve year old David Bishop has a problem. With his parents contemplating a divorce, David is left in the care of his gruff German grandfather and his grandfather's Native American housekeeper on a remote lake in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Not only must David deal with his own fears, prejudices, and insecurities, there is also the matter of the ghost who haunts Spirit Lake.

About the Author
Phil is a retired high school teacher originally from Kalamazoo, Michigan. Ten years ago Phil and his wife moved to Tumwater, Washington in order to be near their family. In addition to enjoying time at their cottage on Lake Cushman in the foothills of Olympic National Park, Phil and his wife love to travel, having visited much of Europe, parts of South America, and China. Though he loves living amid the magnificent mountains of the great Northwest, Phil has fond memories of the many summers he spent as a boy visiting relatives in the western part of the Upper Peninsula.
