Great mystery, romance and a smidge of paranormal.   In Dream Eyes, Gwen Frazier, school buddy and sister from another mother of Abby Radwell from Copper Beach (Dark Legacy #1), is in a bit of a bind.  She’s found her friend and mentor dead in the small town of Wilby, Oregon and she believes it may have been murder.  Gwen asks Abby for help of the psychic nature to find the truth.  Help is sent in the form of psychic investigator Judson Coppersmith.  Judson is recovering from a psychic trauma but figures this will be a quick look-see and done.  He doesn’t count on his attraction to Gwen and the mystery surrounding her and the town. This is classic JAK Gwen & Judson have great chemistry and the mystery kept me guessing till the end.I know some folks don’t get it but I ADORE Jayne Ann Krentz novels.

Well. This book is almost a copy of the first in the series "Copper Beach" and I do like this one better than the first, maybe the characters? I love that there is an animal in each book so far, and in this one a cat and I want to know what kind of critter will be in book number 3...(hehehe) the plot line? I like it better than the first book. I like Judson better than Sam. I think the author has got a formula that she likes, 1/4 of the way in there is sex, then 1/2 way and then 3/4 of the way in more sex... and not to much or to graphic, I hate gratuitous sex! This was a good quick and fun read. I have read a book by Amanda Quick before, not knowing it was Jane and it would not matter as I enjoyed it as well. I know what I like to read, When you want escapism... she is the author for you. this is a "just barely" ... 4 stars

I really enjoyed the book, but I should have reread Cooper Beach before I read this book, I seemed to forget a lot about a book if the next one comes out a lot later. I'm not going to get in to the story and give things away, buy you will thank me later for that. The chatter in this book are great together and the has no lag time so there is always things to be done, and people too see. I really enjoy JAK books, but I cant wait to read the new Jayne Castle when it comes out. This a great read.

If you like Jayne Anne Krentz youll like this. It's her standard formula, no pun intended.

First time I've read a Jayne Ann Krentz book. The story kept me guessing and the paranormal element was perfect. I thought the way she ended a chapter could have been smoother. But otherwise a great read.

Sometimes I can deduce the villain in Krentz's stories but this one kept me guessing up until the final reveal, and even then there were a couple of extra plot twists. Added to the suspense are Krentz's typical quirky characters, plus the Coppersmith family cast of characters, and Krentz has another paranormal romance hit.

Jayne Ann Krentz is my all-time favorite author and reading a book from her is always a treat. That said, I must admit to the fact that her Dark Legacy series is not turning out to be one of my favorites. Whether it is the forgone conclusion of the couples or the heavy-handed attempts to tie into her Arcane series—without actually being a part of it to benefit from the past history—I just have not be as engaged this time around. Dream Eyes was a fun story and the dynamics between the main characters, Judson and Gwen, were explosive in the best of ways as they unraveled the mystery in this book. The mystery itself however left me feeling a bit disengaged. Some of this disconnect may have resulted from the fact that a good portion of the events happened in retrospect but a lot of it came from the fact that I didn’t really get a solid picture of anything in this book, which surprised me in one of Ms. Krentz’s works. Some of this story was fabulous. I loved getting to know Nick better—he might turn out to be my favorite character in the whole series—and I liked both main characters. The story as a whole however, failed to inspire a suspension of disbelief or any real connection. It felt more like a vehicle for set-up and tie-in than a story of its own. I, sadly, am only able to give it three stars.

Originally published on my blog, My Urban Fantasies. (myurbanfantasies.blogspot) Dream Eyes is the second book in the Dark Legacy series. The way Krentz has set up this series, Dream Eyes can be read as a stand-alone book. The first book, Copper Beach, is Sam and Abby's story. Dream Eyes is Gwen and Judson's story. Characters from Copper Beach are in Dream Eyes, but only in a minor capacity. I would definitely read Copper Beach first if you want a little more history on the Coppersmith family, Abby and Nick. Knowing their history is not necessarily important, but may make it a little less confusing when they are introduced. Copper Beach will also explain more about the Phoenix stones, again they are not that important in this storyline. Gwendolyn Frazier, Abby's friend and soul sister, receives an email from her mentor Evelyn Ballinger. When Gwen can not reach Evelyn by phone, she goes to Evelyn's house in small town Wilby, Oregon. Gwen finds her dear friend Evelyn dead in Evelyn's office. To the untrained eye it appears that Evelyn has died of natural causes. Gwen thinks that Evelyn was killed by paranormal means. She also believes that Evelyn's murder is connected to the two murders that happened in Wilby two years ago. Gwen needs a second opinion on Evelyn's death and, if she's correct, someone to help her find out why Evelyn had been murdered. Gwen needs a psychic investigator, which leads directly to the Coppersmith family. Judson Coppersmith, Sam's brother, is a psychic investigator, half of Coppersmith Consulting. Judson is on the Oregon coast recovering from the aftermath of his last assignment. Judson made it out of the incident alive, but his mind is stuck in a dark place. Judson receives a phone call from Sam asking him to help Gwen. Judson decides that Gwen may be the perfect distraction, a way to escape his recurring nightmares. My favorite character would have to be Nick Sawyer. Nick plays a small but important part in Dream Eyes. I don't know exactly what it is about him that draws you in. He's funny, loyal and has this mysterious quality that insists you learn more about him. Dream Eyes is the perfect combination of mystery and romance with a little paranormal thrown in just for fun. It really was a fantastic read.
