New age duo Secret Garden (Irish violinist Fionnuala Sherry and Norwegian keyboardist Rolf Lovland) have cultivated a devoted group of fans with their top-selling albums of mood music: Songs from a Secret Garden (1996), White Stones (1997), and the millennial Dawn of a New Century. Now that the duo's success is an open secret, it's time for a "best of" album. Enter Dreamcatcher, a cream-of-the-crop compilation of 19 tracks handpicked from Secret Garden's bountiful yield. The wistful "Nocturne" -- assisted by vocalist Gunnhild Tvinnereim -- opens the album, while lyricist Nikki Matheson provides the title track's restful lullaby. Celtic rhythms and a soundtrack sensibility inhabit "Dawn of a New Century," followed by the sentimental summing-up "Last Present," a newly recorded bonus track. Derek Bell of the Chieftains, the Celtic choral group Anuna, and even the Irish National Symphony Orchestra all play a part, too. Dreamcatcher affirms what Secret Garden's fans already know: The duo's mélange of folk-inspired melodies, sweet harmonies, and languid tempos is set to soothe the soul.

This is one of my favorite CDs. It has come to mean more to me in recent days. It has a mystical quality to it and is very soothing. I lost someone I loved very much two weeks ago and listening to this CD makes me feel loved, and more connected to my soul and I think about my beloved friend with each beautiful melody. It has given me comfort and peace.
great music to listen to if you need to shed grief
Yes, this is what I was looking for in my life. My blood runs with Celtic excitement when the music starts. My grandfather from Norway played the violin, too. The viking drum beat in back ground keeping rythyms (Dawn Of A Brand New Century) The Scot-Irish twist with the bagpipes. I saw the actual performance of this music on tv. Great job.
You have to listen to it to understand this. Even though i am no irish, in fact, i am chinese. I love celitic music. If you like Enya ans chieftains, it will complete your listening desire with this album. I love it.
I have every one of Secret Gardens CD's and I love everyone. Their music takes me to a land far away where I can dream forever. AMAZING, EXOTIC, OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!
I love this CD! I hadn't heard of "Secret Garden" before buying this CD but I will be buying more now... I listen to it at night when I am going to sleep or during the day when I am studying. I love the the violin and the Celtic sound of the music. I would highly recommend this CD.
