ONE OF THE BEST! I bought the bundle and just had to write about the Dreamer before I went on to book 2 of this series. I stayed up until 3:20 A.M., reading this story. As our reviewer's have said, I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN! When I got to the end of this story, I was disappointed that the CURSE wasn't explained. Then reading more of what the author's wrote at the end of The Dreamer, I realized that it was all explained The Flame. So I just ordered it and waiting for it to appear in my Nook (why can't it be as fast as the Kindle)? Anyway, the way everything is described I could picture the hill sides, the Castle, EVERYTHING! The lovemaking scenes were very well written, not erotica type, but still got my heart a racing!!! This is a fantastic storyline, many twists, turns and downright suspenseful. I can't recommend this book highly enough. I would suggest doing better research than I did, and read at least the Flame first, and who knows what else I missed. This book can stand alone, but why not enjoy the way these writer's weave their stories and get lost in the HIGHLANDS. (LJB)

I'm an avid reader and always looking for new authors i've never read before. when i found this book at the local library, i bought it and took it home. I have to say it was a great book. Now i'm waiting for them to get me some more of her books to read thru interlibrary loan. She is great with her characters and building suspense. Keep up the good work :)

This book is exquiset! Loved the way the book flowed together. The book has so much passion, as well as rebellion when Catherine Percey finds herself in a bed with a man. He had snuck in her bed thinking she was his fiance. His wife ran off, so he made her his bride. He took her back to his castle, where she despised him! Love took a turn with many events happeneing.

This was a very well-written book. The characters were likeable, and the plot moved along. As with many free books, it's the first in a series, but it is a full-length novel and doesn't leave a cliffhanger to make you buy the rest of the series. However, I plan to purchase the rest of the trilogy, as the author has created a world and storyline that I want to revisit.

Enjoyed the book; relatively fast paced compared to others of this genre which kept it interesting for me. Would recommend.

I found this book to be fantastic, once I got into it. It took me until about the middle of the book to really get into the Percy storyline, with the Treasure and all... but I loved the book nonetheless. As soon as I finished it, I picked up the second in the series and couldn't put it down! It's a refreshing change to have the man in the story realize he loves the woman before the book's last twenty pages... the main two characters have a dazzling romance that will leave those who love historical romances woven with adventure and mystery with a smile. This is a must read for anyone who loves romances in the Highlands!!

In 1535, the three sisters flee Yorkshire, England when they learn their father is dead and accused of being a traitor. The oldest sibling Catherine Percy flees to Scotland where she meets the traveling Ellen Crawford, fiancee of Lord Athol, John Stewart. At an inn, Ellen gets Catherine to switch rooms. John enters the room expecting Ellen but finds himself compromised with Catherine.

To save her reputation, John insets they immediately marry. He does not wait for her reply, but instead sends for a priest. After they are wed, he becomes frustrated with his spouse when she insists on opening a school, which leads to a feud with his own brother Adam. Still, the duo begins to fall in love with one another, but she fears letting herself fully go to him because she worries about her two sisters and the English King¿s men.

The first entry in the Highland Treasury series, THE DREAMER, is a gem of a historical romance that will elate fans of Scottish tales. The story line is fast-paced, filled with action, and contains a bit of a mystery involving a treasure. Readers will find John and Catherine enchanting, especially the hero who appeared in a previous novel. The return of other characters adds a sense of depth and homecoming even as the audience will want to read the tales of Laura, Adrianne, and more about the treasure as well as other works by marvelous May McGoldrick.

AUTHOR: First time reading a book by May McGoldrick. I really did not like this book. WHY? I felt that I was the script of a play. While there was ROMANCE, it was pretty blazay. The book did nothing to make my romantic juices roar.SYNOPSISStory takes place in Scotland. John Stewart is about to marry Ellen, but instead forces Catherine Percy who is only interested in starting a school. Catherine is a very proper and well educated English woman. John finds out he has a half brother, Adam of the Glen, who has a grudge against John and therefore raids his lands and properties. Sir Arthur Courtenay is running around trying to find a treasure of which Catherine and 3 other women are aware of the location. SEX SCALE: Of the following (5) : (NOT very descriptive and requires imagination); (WILL make you wiggle a little); (WISH it was me); (OH boy, do not have to use my imagination at all); (EROTICA and well over the top) ****** **************this book gets a BARELY MAKES YOU WIGGLE A LITTLE rating because while there is passion, it really lacks ROMANCE except for a man's desire for a woman's passionate ways.LEAST FAVORITE PART: Monks being torcheredFAVORITE PART: Sex on the window ledge YOU WILL LIKE THIS BOOK IF YOU LIKE: A book of circumstances. A book that reads like the script of a play. Romance is mostly about a man who falls in love with a woman because she is passionate (although written to me in a blazay manner.)TWO STARS because the author at least made an effort. There was no real fire in the book. This is book 1 of a "trilogy". I'll pass thank you very much.

I absolutely love Historical Romance novels that involve a mystery, humor, drama, smart women, confident men, villains, lots of twists & turns that keep the reader interested, and references to historical events of days gone by. The fact that the characters are referenced in other books the author has written and/or the book belongs in a series makes it a win/win for me!
