Dreamthief: Olive Kennedy, Fairy World M.D., Book One by Tamara Grantham

Visiting Faythander, a fairy world, is a nasty business. Forget the fairies and unicorns, most people come back with lost memories and mental problems. Olive Kennedy knows. She's the therapist who treats patients suffering from Faythander's side effects. She may have an emotionless mother and an apathetic boyfriend, but she takes pride in her job. She's never failed to cure a client—until now.

Traveling back to Faythander wasn't on Olive's to-do list. But she has no choice. The fate of both Earth and Fairy depends on her ability to stop an evil being called the Dreamthief. Saving the world, she can handle. Falling in love—not so much. Now, she'll have to decide between her heart and the future of an entire planet. As if battling the forces of evil wasn't complicated enough…

About the Author

Tamara Grantham was born and raised in Southeast Texas. She comes from a family of writers. She took her first writing class from her uncle Larry Franklin, who worked as an author and literary agent at the time. In 2013, she signed her first contract with former writing mentor, and New York Times-bestselling author, William Bernhardt, to contribute to his Shine series. The novellas are about young girls with unusual abilities. In November 2014, almost four years to the day that she finished her first book, she signed with Crimson Tree Publishing (the adult imprint of Clean Teen Publishing) for her novel Dreamthief.

While she’s not writing, and sometimes while she is, she raises four (soon to be five!) beautiful children, ages one to ten. She lives in Galveston, Texas with her husband and kids, one cat and one dog. Her husband David is her biggest support. For the past ten years he has been in training to become a surgeon. She frequently picks his brain for the sake of her stories, a habit she hopes he’ll forgive.

This was an excellent and captivating fantasy book! Olive Kennedy has lived half her life in the magical world of Faythander that is inhabited by dragons, elves, wults, pixies and goblins. Now she lives in Earth Kingdom trying to fit in until her godson gets ill and she is thrust back into Faythander. Dreamthief was a combination on fantasy, magic, action, romance and a bit of humor. We were introduced to a lot of Faythander's unique population and it's beautiful world. The characters were great. I really liked Kull's and Heidel's bravery, Fan'twar's loyalty to Olive, and of course Olive's love for her godson! With a well written plot and a lot of mystery, Dreamthief was an amazing read and I am looking forward to following Olive in her next adventure! I would recommend this book to fans of fantasy, action and magic.

From the first few pages I was hooked into the story. Ms. Grantham paints an amazing picture of Faythander, and draws you into the world. Each character is well developed and brings the story to life. The plot twists and turns, leaving you wanting to know what happens next throughout the whole novel and the action keeps you turning pages. There were several nights that I found myself not wanting to put it down, but knowing it was midnight and I'd have to wake up in a few hours forced my hand. The writing is wonderful and flows nicely without any odd sentences that leave you confused as to what the author is trying to say. This book has everything in it---fantasy, humor, and romance. Although, the romance is G-rated, which I very much prefer. With that said, however, people who want heat in the books they read, will not be disappointed as the other aspects of the novel far make up for the lack of heated passion. Since there are other books in the series, the first one ends on a semi-cliffhanger. This doesn't mean to say that if you just get this first one you are going to be left hanging or feeling like you've been duped into buying another book just to find out what happens. Believe me, you'll be hunting down Spellweaver (the second books in the series) within seconds of finishing. However, even though it's a series, this book ends with a ending that leaves you satisfied. This book is definitely a must read!
