i would say that this book is for someone with intermediate knowledge of web design/developing and who already understands terminology related to web design; definitely not for dummies; i dont believe this book should have made it through the press as a Dummies book. also, it seems to have striking similarities to the book called Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 Bible (but a CS4 version); seems more like the author just wanted a quick way to make money by getting this book published rather than thinking thoroughly about her audience and writing it in a manner in which the audience would truly understand, who would most likely be beginners who know little or nothing about web developing/design; the author claims that all you have to do is be a human on Earth who knows how to use a computer and that her book will explain the rest, but i beg to differ; i was left thoroughly frustrated and then a friend gave me a copy of Dreamweaver CS3 For Dummies by Janine Warner and it is much more well written for beginners; even though i have CS4 i will use this book, as the two versions of Dreamweaver are very similar. kudos to the author of Dreamweaver CS3 For Dummies, she is a true teacher and knows how to communicate effectively; i wish i could shake her hand....*edit*...I just realized that Janine Warner also wrote Dreamweaver CS4 For Dummies (which is DIFFERENT THAN Dreamweaver CS4 All-in-One For Dummies, which is the book that i hate and which i just wrote the above review on). i am sure this Dreamweaver CS4 for Dummies is a great book as well....i only wish that Wiley Publishing did not allow for two books with such similar titles to go out on the market as this causes a lot of confusion and some buyers will end up buying a version that is not helpful to them at all and as a result they may avoid all Dummies books in the future

Most of the "For Dummies" Series are great. This one is great for students, but it wasn't organized for beginners. Although, it is sectioned according to nine books, other books on the same subject give demonstrations from beginning to end for beginners. This is definitely a great book to have, especially for students who want to have it handy for specific problems, but definitely not good for a textbook or teaching with. More like a dictionary without the explanations written in laymen's terms.
