The argument here is that driver safety can be managed and not just left to chance. The author constructs a compelling personal ethnography built around stories from the road, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration statistics, social science research studies, and reference to hundreds of thousands of video captures of driver behavior immediately before, during, and after ¿accidents.¿ This book is most useful for fleet managers and safety training managers . . . and for anyone for that matter who wants to frame a discussion, or take action with a driver risk management system. Topics include exception based video event recorders, the dilemma of false positive behavior, driver coaching and consequences, Hawthorne effect, privacy boundary management, and pay as you drive insurance.
