Drunk on You (Hope Town, #4) by Harper Sloan

It was supposed to be fun.

A mutual use of each other's bodies.

To be a ruse to the world around us.

I wanted to be free from my ex, and he wanted to escape his.

One drunken night turned a joke into a life-changing moment.

He warned me not to fall for him, and I should've listened.

He intoxicated me.

He made me crave him.

He ruined me.

In the end, I'll never be the same.

Welcome back to Hope Town - Book 4 will feature Nikki and Shane :)

This book was so worth the wait; I so want a Shane Kingston in my life. What starts out as a fake relationship, quickly morphs into so much more for Shane and Nikki. The path to Shane and Nikki’s happily ever after is filled with one step forward, two steps back as outside forces try to ruin what is blossoming between these two. However, Shane and Nikki are determined to explore the path that they have taken and boy what a path it is. Drunk on you is edgier, more naughty and so smoking hot that I needed a fan several times whilst reading this book. Shane is pure alpha and dominant, whilst Nikki is prepared to explore her wild and submissive side . Nikki takes to the lifestyle like a duck to water and when she grabs onto the rope and reaches for it, you just have to cheer and melt, because there is Shane ready to catch and protect her. I loved the characters of both Shane and Nikki, both separately and together and honestly, these two belong together. It was also great to catch up on what is happening in the lives of Nate and Ember. If you haven't had the pleasure of reading this series, do yourselves a favour and read it now. You won’t be disappointed. This is Harper Sloan writing at her best and I cannot recommend this book more highly and I eagerly await the next book.

Drunk on you is positively addicting. Shane and Nicole had been acquaintances through their best friends for years. They shared a mutual attraction to each other for years but have not been able to act on it because they had been in relationships themselves. But after a year of failing miserably to make sure their crazy, stalkery, cheating exes understood that they were unequivocally over, Shane and Nicole decide help each other out by acknowledging their attraction and start a mutually beneficial fake relationship. The problem is that not only is their attraction very much real, it's downright incendiary. Not to mention there’s an easiness between them which along with the incredible sensual highs the take each other on, stokes a powerful emotional relationship. But will his past experiences hold back the closed off ex-stripper from trusting and loving completely? I've been a Harper Sloan fan from the start! Since Axle from the Corps Security series came out I've loved her over protective sexy alpha males, their adorable partners, the heartwarming bonds of family and friendship formed between each couple all recounted with skill, humor and heart. So I was a bit put off when a douche canoe lover like myself couldn’t connect with the hero. The bigger the @-hole is, the harder he falls in complete and absolute love, right? Even though I’ve read my fair share of D/s stories, there was something about Shane though, that I wasn’t liking. Perhaps it was his use of words like obey and punishment. But you can deduce by my rating that something changed my mind and confirmed my bigger/harder theory. The story was absolutely hooking, regardless of my previous statement, I enjoyed the developing relationship between Nikki and Shane very much. They complimented each other perfectly. Shane might be controlling in bed, but out of it Nicole handled him wonderfully. She’s hilarious and smart, she gave him cute pet names no alpha male would want and didn’t put up with his ridiculousness. Shane wisely recognized her allure and slowly let’s her see his more gently and sweet side. I didn’t just fan myself from the sparks that flew between Shane and Nicole and the sexy Magic Mike dances, I also laughed out loud with their respective best friends and generally had a big smile throughout the story. I can’t wait to see what’s next! Drunk on You is book #4 in the Hope Town series by Harper Sloan. Hope Town is a spin off the Corps Security series and Drunk on You is a delicious contemporary romance escape brimming with sexiness. Told from both points of view and has a happy ending.

Shane Kingston and Nicole Clark have the same problem: their exes don't understand that things are over and keep stalking them. So when Nikki proposes to Shane they pretend to be dating while having some fun together, why should he refuse? They're attracted to each other and they get along. But will the line between what's real and what's pretending remain intact or will it become blurred? Will Nikki and Shane keep their feelings out of their fake relationship? I loved Drunk on You! The blurb captivated me and Shane and Nikki's story hooked me from the first page. This is a hot and sweet story, full of drama, laughter and steamy scenes. The chemistry between Nikki and Shane is palpable through the pages! Nikki is a second grade teacher and she loves her job. She broke up with her boyfriend over a year ago, but it seems that he doesn't get that. She's very sweet, kind, and funny, but also knows what she wants and fights for it. I loved how she stood for her herself and Shane when Lacey attacked her. Shane is one of the owners of Dirty Dog, the bar he owns with Nate Reid. He loves dancing and his job. But most of all, he loves is family and his friends. He's very charming and sweet, making everyone swoon when he speaks in French. But he's also very protective, possessive, and controlling. He believes he'll never find someone who'll accept his job as a dancer. I loved Harper Sloan's books and she didn't disappoint with Drunk on You. The story is fascinating and captivating, full of emotion and feeling. The characters are amazing and relatable, making it very easy to cheer for them. I can't wait to read more about the Hope Town crew!

4.5 Stars! “Until this moment, I never would have guessed I had a docile bone in my body, but there is no doubt that Shane dominates every single part of me. Body and Soul.” “He’s such a contradiction. One moment, he’s holding himself back with that control he drives himself with as if it’s more an armor, and the next, he’s gentle and almost sweet.” “At this moment, I’m just a man looking at the woman twisting him up in knots, and not even bothered by it in the least.” “The best rewards come to those who are brave enough to pick up the dice and roll without knowing what they’ll land on, mon colibri.” What can I tell you about Drunk on You? Well, I positively drunk on this book. Shane and Nikki are to die for. From the moment you get your hands on their story, you are sucked in and won’t be able to let go. This book is smartly written, seductive and will have you craving more. Shane is absolutely everything you want and desire from a Harper Sloan alpha male. He is sexy, dominate and has a need for control. The sexuality he oozes, will leave you breathless and desperate for more. When Shane first got with Nikki, it was all a game between the two of them. A fake relationship to get their exes to leave them alone, and allow them to have some fun sexy times too. I knew right away that what these two had was going to be explosive. I mean the tension and chemistry alone was explosive and white hot. I just knew that if these two could open themselves up to something more, that it was going to just be off the charts. And I gotta say, there was nothing better than watching these two fall. Nikki and Shane were absolutely perfect for one another. Balancing each other out in ways that neither expected and taking their passions to levels neither one of them experienced. I couldn’t get enough of these two and every chapter had me just begging for more. Harper Sloan has definitely knocked it out the park with Drunk on You. This might be the fourth book in this series, but it is just as good as the first one. From an exciting and entertaining story line, to amazing friendships and fake relationships to amazing sexual chemistry and panty melting sexy good times with a little drama along the way. This book had it all!! Drunk on You was a fabulous ride and I loved every minute of it

I could really use Shane in my life...and I'm a very happily married woman.! So hot but stayed true to the alpha male/strong female. Couldn't have made Nikki more perfect! Loved!

Harper Sloan definitely knows how to get down and dirty in her stories, provocatively illustrating the sexual attraction and connection that sizzles between her hero and heroine through every sizzling glance, dirty word, and sexual play. This time around, Sloan adds in the world of BDSM, exploring the Dominant/submissive relationship, which only adds to her hero’s alpha tendencies and proves just how good Sloan is at creating a man’s man, one who protects and serves even while discovering exactly what the heroine means to him and what he’s willing to do prevent her from getting hurt, even if it’s from himself. Nikki is a woman of contradictions. There are two drastically different sides to her – one that depicts her as a wholesome elementary school teacher and one that shows her inner sex kitten biding her time until she can come out to play. Harper Sloan does a good job of exploring Nikki’s dual self, and as Nikki blossoms under Shane’s guidance, figuring out exactly the woman she is and wants to be, readers see Nikki come into her own, unleashing a new and improved Nikki – one who won’t be walked all over anymore. Shane is an extremely sexual man, and he’s more than willing to teach Nikki a thing or two in the bedroom…or any other room he chooses. But that’s where it’s supposed to stop between them because Shane’s job isn’t very conducive to a ‘real’ relationship, but readers are perfectly aware of what usually happens when long-time friends become sexual partners, especially in a D/s relationship where trust and closeness is key, so it’s only a matter of time until one or both of them want something that may not be possible to have. Shane is a whole lot of EVERYTHING! What woman wouldn’t love a French speaking stallion in the sack??? I know I’d be more than willing, so Nikki’s decision to pretend she and Shane are in a relationship, foregoing the intimacy but not the foreplay and sex makes sense to me, but it’s easy to see that Nikki’s getting in way over her head and nothing good can come from playing for a man who told you never to fall. Even though I know Shane and Nikki’s exes were there to cause trouble and doubts, they drove me absolutely nuts throughout the entire text, so much so that I wanted to bitchslap her and knee him in the balls. I NEEDED them to get the hint and stop making everything more difficult between Shane and Nikki, but neither were willing to do that, which not only ends up proving just how right Shane and Nikki were to be finished with them but also that anything they shared with their exes was unhealthy and quite a bit damaging. There hasn’t been a Harper Sloan book I haven’t enjoyed. There’s just something about how she blends her sex scenes with her story line, illustrating exactly why her hero and heroine have the real thing way before they realize it for themselves. 4.5 Poison Apples

4.5 Stars! Be ready to get taken for a hot, sexy ride with Drunk On You, the fourth book in the Hope Town Series from Harper Sloan! I am a huge Harper Sloan fan and an even bigger fan of this series, so it is hard for me to say this, but I was a bit disappointed with the direction this story took. Shane is hot, sexy and as alpha as they come, which is something I've come to expect from the men in this and most of Sloan's series. However, I was not expecting the Dom/sub turn that this book took and to be quite honest, I didn't care for it. Now, that is just me and I have no doubt most of you will love this. Don't get me wrong, the story itself is quite amazing. Sloan takes Shane and Nikki on a deeply emotional ride that was anything but predictable. Charater-wise, Shane and Nikki are amazing. Shane, Nate's best friend, is a man with a deep-seated need to maintin control in all aspects of his life. He was betrayed by a former girlfriend and has things from his past that make him so complex. He is easy to love and yet at times I really didn't like him. Nikki, who is Ember's best friend, is fiery and spicy with a side of sweet. She too has issues from her past and an ex that screwed her up. The two are perfect for each other. The connection is hot, fast and furious. The sex is scorching with a definite BDSM touch to it. I have to give a bit of praise to Harper Sloan for not making the sex the forefront of this story. In fact, while there are some seriously hot scenes and a lot of reference to how they make each other feel, there isn't an unnecessary overabundance of descriptive scenes, because at the heart of this book is the development of trust between two people and that trust being the basis for their love. Despite my feelings about the who D/s thing, I loved the book. Shane and Nikki are great characters and their story is quite amazing. I highly recommend the book and hope you all enjoy it as much as I did.

Entertaining and Inviting DRUNK ON YOU is the fourth installment in Harper Sloan’s contemporary, adult HOPE TOWN erotic, romance series –a spin off and next generation series from the author’s Corps Security. This is bar owner and former male stripper Shane Kingston, and primary school teacher Nikki Clark’s story line. Nikki is best friends with Ember Reid: and Shane co-owns the nightclub and bar The Dirty Dog with his friend and Ember’s husband Nate (When I’m With You #3). DRUNK ON YOU can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information is revealed from previous story line. NOTE: DRUNK ON YOU contains graphic sexual language, as well as scenes of D/s (Domination and submission), spanking and punishment that may not be suitable for all readers. Told from dual first person perspectives (Nikki and Shane) DRUNK ON YOU is a story of friends to lovers, fake girlfriend/boyfriend trope that finds Nikki Clark desperate to push her possessive ex out of her life. Offering Shane a no-strings attached, fake girlfriend scenario is perfect for our story line hero as he too, is desperate to push his ex out of the picture. With no promise for the future, and no promises of love Nikki and Shane set about their fake relationship that turns into something more. What ensues is the building love between two people whose lives will be destroyed by one man’s lack of trust, and his inability to let go of the past. DRUNK ON YOU is an erotic, romance story line with scenes of D/s, spanking, and punishment. Shane is a natural Dominant, and prefers his women to be obedient and amenable in the bedroom. Finding Nikki, a woman whose own sexual kinks border on the submissive is perfect for the their fake boyfriend/girlfriend arrangement until feelings and emotions get in the way. The relationship between Nikki and Shane is one of immediate attraction but neither one was willing to push for something more believing they were both in committed relationships. With the revelation of two exes who refused to move on from the past, Nikki and Shane set into motion a plan in the hopes of breaking free of their previous destructive entanglements. The $ex scenes are erotic, aggressive and intense. Some readers may have issues with the D/s aspect of their earlier encounters. Nate and Ember Reid (When I’m With You #3) play secondary and supporting roles. We are witness to Nate and Ember’s growing family; their over-protective friendships with our story line couple; and the successful expansion of the Dirty Dog, a success that threatens Nikki’s relationship with the man that she has grown to love. DRUNK ON YOU and the Hope Town Series looks at the next generation of the original characters we met in the author’s Corps Security series but unlike the previous installments the Corps Security characters do not cross over in the current story line. Saying that, I miss some of the familiarity and the cohesion between the series. The premise is entertaining and inviting; the characters are sassy and energetic; the romance is raw and passionate.
