The previous 3 Dukes of Amberly have died in a short period of time. The new Duke is from Ireland and faces much discrimination. The Ton wants nothing to do with him but it is up to him to figure out what happened to the other three Dukes when he learns that others believed they were murdered. He needs an entrée to the Ton which he gets through his neighbor, Lady Margaret Winthrop, who lives with her married sister. I liked Connor, the new Duke, but I loved Maggie (Margaret). She was feisty and would not let Connor treat her like his troops. Her sister I would have loved to dropped kicked her. She was a witch of the first order. Thoroughly disagreeable! The male villain was somewhat predictable. He did what I figured he would from the beginning although his "accomplice" at the end was unexpected. I also liked the other members of Moonlight Square and their insights into Maggie and her sister, as well as their support of Connor. I am enjoying this series more and more. The women are independent and the men can handle them and work with them instead of trying to put them into a stereotypical role.

Each book is better than the last! This one was full of action, romance, and raw sensuality. Connor is an Irish major decorated in the Napoleonic Wars and expects life to follow his orders. Lady Maggie Winthrop, a spinster living in her sister's home since her father's death, has taken orders long enough. When they have to band together to solve a series of murders in Connor's family, sparks fly.I didn't want to stop reading once I started, but I had to slow my reading rate so that I didn't miss anything. There were numerous twists and new discoveries as the book progressed, and the ending was wildly exciting. What I liked: A-Connor was strong and honorable, but he didn't have a clue of how to deal with Maggie when she didn't perform as ordered. And Maggie, after she stopped accepting whatever her sister dished out, was a force to be reckoned with. But the make-up sex was great! B- If Grandaunt Lucinda and Delia had joined forces, Heaven help England, France and beyond! I felt sorry for Edward until he admitted that he had anticipated Delia's temperament when he married her. C-Connor's friends were good, obedient soldiers, and loyal to the end. But they were also individuals, wishing for their own share of happiness. D-Seth Darrow and Elias Flynn were superlative villains who required the end they received. My only criticism was that I noted a couple terms that didn't seem to fit the time period, but this didn't hamper my enjoyment. I received a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. I can't wait for the next resident of Moonlight Square!

I have read all of the Moonlight Square novels, and I must say, they just keep getting better and better. This love story of two soul mates, both of whom feel like outsiders, was a joy to read. Keeping it lively was the mystery of the murders of the Dukes of Amberley 1, 2 and 3. Gaelen does something very interesting with this book. From the very beginning, she tells the reader who the murderer is. It takes our Hero and Heroine a little longer to find out. So one would think all the suspense would be gone, correct? Well, one would be very wrong. Gaelen weaves a fine tale, because we fear for Duke #4 and Maggie's safety, and we don't know WHY the murders were committed in the first place. All we know is that they want the family line wiped out. So, we have Major Connor Forbes, military intelligence officer, now 4th Duke of Amberley, fresh off the boat from Ireland and extremely wary of everything and everyone since all 3 of his predecessors have been killed in the last 2 years. Just back from Waterloo, all he wants is a peaceful existence, but instead, he will have to fight a different battle, one within the ton as he is not considered "one of us". Since he doesn't know the rules he needs some help. He finds a friendly face in Maggie at his first dance, and when fate brings them together a 2nd time, he enlists her aid. She becomes his ally, and helps him develop other friendships quickly. These friends also help him with the murder investigation. Lady Margaret "Maggie" Winthrop is a tiny girl, quiet and the perfect lady. She has always tried to keep the peace. Her sister Delia, Lady Birdwell, whom she now lives with, is an abusive bully who lies about Maggie to others, and constantly puts her down. When she sees Connor at his first ball on Moonlight Square, even though she is currently being courted by another, she is fascinated by him and can't look away. And he is fascinated right back! As they get to know one another, Connor helps Maggie by giving her the courage to stand up for herself, and building her self esteem.. I love Gaelen's writing. Even though it's a Regency romance, the people don't speak all stuffy. They use more 21st century phraseology. It's fun and it works. So, get your cup of Chai Latte, grab this book, and have a blast with the gang from Moonlight Square! *I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an fair and honest review. I

I've been a diehard fan of Gaelen Foley since discovering her Knight Miscellany Series ten years ago. Duke of Storm, the 3rd book in her Moonlight Square Series, is a great example of why I love her books. It had a hero and heroine that I quickly adored, some great secondary characters, plenty of action, spellbinding intrigue, and a sweet romance. Connor Forbes, an Irishman, has barely returned from the Napoleonic Wars when he learns that he has become the Duke of Amberley. As soon as he departs the ship to take over his title and estates, he is attacked. He soon becomes convinced that someone is not only trying to kill him, but has also murdered the last three dukes, who all died within a short time period. Connor meets Lady Margaret Winthrop when he is backed into challenging her suitor to a duel and she pleads for him to be spared. Soon Connor and Maggie are allies and she him to search for clues to who wants him dead. As their relationship deepens into something more, they must solve the mysteries of the past and make it through danger before they can have a chance at a future together. I loved both Connor and Maggie, and thought they were great together. I really enjoyed the way Maggie wanted to help Connor and how protective he was of her. They made a great team, and I liked how they pretty easily got past the facets of one another's personalities that could have been stumbling blocks. The storyline kept me interested, and I loved the historical Regency setting. This was a great addition to the series! I received a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
