Duke has to leave his mother and friends and has to find a new home. He arrives at a horse property. It's not home, it is somewhere else, nothing is familiar. Visitors arrive at the stables and Duke relaxes and becomes the centre of attention. He is made a fuss over by just being himself. A new arrival at the stables and things start to fall into place.

Gabrielle Baker grew up in Albany, Western Australia. A love of horses, dogs and birds became the inspiration for the book. Residing in the southern suburbs of Sydney, I am full-time carer to my husband who is wheelchair bound and with health ailments.

He became strong after drinking lots of milk, and he enjoyed playing and frolicking with the other foals. One day he has to leave his mother and go to a new farm with a new owner where everything is different. Duke panicked and started to cry. Gabby is really impressed with Duke and his behavior so she names him 'Wonder Horse.' Duke is finally happy in his new stable, knowing that his new mommy loves him as much as his real mommy. It is heartwarming to see Duke adjusting to his new home and liking it too. The book introduces kids to the world of horses, foals, stables and farms. The author's love for animals is evident and the book is a must-read for any child who is an animal lover. The book also enhances the vocabulary, thoughts and imaginations of young readers. The story will touch their hearts and will make them love Duke. The illustrations add color and brightness to the story and they give pace and movement to the scenes, breathing life into the characters. The book conveys a subtle message of being open to changes in life. It is a good bedtime story book for parents and grandparents to read out to kids.
